The closest thing I ever did to trolling was on this website that I was pretty much over with, I would make up different accounts and just spam the walls. The rules were so lax that nobody in charge erased it. The only thing to combat it was the other people clicking "bad" and it had to have a bunch of bads to hide the comment. This worked with numbers, the alphabet, and just random stuff. It was especially satisfying when someone who annoyed me was on that thread... But I don't think i've ever intentionally started a fight. There was a time when I just liked to debate, but I think that is different.

I used to be a huge griefer in video games when I was younger.

I so miss mic-spamming. And xbox live, lemme tell ya, makes a griefer's life easy what with it's fail policies.

Never really understood the point of trolling

I have done it before but it's not really my thing. I suck at it and only time it ever succeeded was when I posted two questions at Yahoo Answers my aspie friend created. She is very good at it and really knows how to provoke people. Me, I get ignored and people don't even know I am trolling so I get serious answers and it makes me feel guilty for wasting their time answering a troll. One time it even back fired on AS Partners. They didn't really care if my aspie marriage had succeeded. (I pretended my husband was aspie) and one time on IMDB in 2006 or 2007 I tried to tell two autistic jokes to piss people off and they all got confused. See I suck at it and it's not mine thing I get tired of it when I do it.

But I have been mistaken for one because of my opinions and my autistic tenancies and humor and perhaps my communication issues. Well those two would fall under autistic tenancies anyway. I seem to tend to post trollish topics and not even know it. I wonder if I have posted any here lately? After all I have made a few threads lately haven't I?

If anyone thinks I am a troll, maybe I should take that as a compliment because oh boy, I wish I was this good but I don't really care. Maybe next time if anyone calls me one, I should say thank you than posting a picture of a Treasure Troll.

Besides troll often gets misused so lot of people get accused of being one, AS or not.

I was strongly accused of being a troll and cyber-bullied a lot when I was around 10-12. Then after that I became a real troll for a bit.

I wouldn't agree at all and I wouldn't do that sort of thing, either. The reason that we're called trolls in normal communities, because we have a different viewpoint than most people and those people don't like that, so they call us trolls.

I never saw the point in trolling.

Maybe Aspies could be associated with trolling because we talk a lot about our interests so NT's see it as trolling because we don't follow THEIR internet etiquette protocols? I don't know.

Actually, no. I've known many a troll with AS. And as it was mentioned earlier, 4chan is probably full of them.

No.

Insufficient evidence for claim.

I doubt most of em on 4chan are autistic. Unfortunately the word autism has become a slang term for trolling there because some trolls have claimed to be autistic probably as jokes & other trolls were assumed to be autistic. A person is termed to be autistic there when he makes a confusing post or ask a question that most know the answer to. That is NOT autism & it's ignorance, stupidity & judgmental that those members are assumed to be or called autistic as insults. It is NO different than how some of us are called & assumed to be retorted when in reality we are NOT retorted at all

I will have to borrow Fnords famous catchphrase for this thread:

People with unpopular opinions tend to be shunned upon. They get mistaken for trolls simply because people think we are just posting it to stir up trouble. So I have learned never disagree with the majority or you will be treated like crap. People will flame you and insult you and maybe call you a troll. It's best to keep your mouth shut if your opinion is unpopular unless you want a drama of course or don't care or if you want to see who gets mad about it. Well that would be trollinf technically if you are posting it for those reasons.

This could be another reason why I was seen as one here because my opinions were not popular.

(to the poll question)

I don't know, but I wouldn't expect that to be the case.

I am trying to remember whether I have said things explicitly to troll, but I don't remember doing so.

More often I have been targeted by trolls.

Well, I think there is a difference between expressing unpopular opinions and trolling in the classic sense. It depends on how you put your point across and also the kind of reaction you want from other people -- if you post an unpopular opinion for the sole purpose of getting people wound up, that's trollin'. Otherwise, it's just expressing an opinion.

I've done both but trolling ain't really my thing. It gets boring very quick.
