How about meeting in the middle and have My Little Zombies? You know... with all of the ponies being the undead.

I'm sick of hearing about them too. I don't know why people find them so fascinating all of a sudden. I feel the same way about vampires. Oh my gosh, zombie attack! Who freaking cares? I'm so sick of people going on about it whether they believe in zombies or not. It's getting pretty annoying.

The reality of it is that it is a form of transference. It's popular because people see a coming catastrophe in which the mindless consumers of the modern world will all of a sudden find themselves in a situation in which the system breaks down. The just in time delivery system the grocery stores rely upon will cease to function and so these individuals who live together more or less in harmony will be revealed for the monsters they really are when the thin veil of civilization is lifted from them. Thus, it will be necessary to kill the roaming hordes of suburbanites in order to survive and to protect the supplies you have and the ones you love. Thinking about in terms of the mindless undead lets people fantasize about this sort of scenario without the guilt that comes from thinking about it in terms of their friends and neighbors as conscious, sentient human beings.

So you admit it! Zombies are awsome in a twisted sort of way!

This is why I shy away from people who like zombies, especially ones who are very obsessed. It seems to be a more socially acceptable outlet for tightly repressed violent tendencies. The same goes for people who are obsessed w/ weapons, which tends to go along w/ the zombie obsession.

I also hate the ponies.

I'm not interested in zombies. I like vampires.

I tend to agree with you. I have nothing against owning guns and actually want to do so at some time in the future. However, I have no sense of bloodlust and hope that if I ever do own them that I will never have much use for them besides for punching holes in paper targets at a gun range. Trust me, I know a few gun owners (probably half the employees of the pizza place I work at own at least one gun) and the last thing most of them want is to have to use their weapons in anger against another person. The few I know who do indulge in these fantasies though I doubt would actually pull the trigger if it came to it unless their lives were in imminent danger. It's sort of a form of "gallows humor", if you will.

Ah, people have thoughts of their own? That's a new one to me.

They all look like relatively harmless zombies to me already (except when in groups and all riled up).

Haha. that's a good way to put it. You should be a sociologist or something.

There is a distinction between those who are "obsessed" with weapons, owners of weapons and those who obsess over ways to use them. I would have to admit that I could be considered to be "obsessed" with them, but killing others doesn't register as something I'd want to do or think about.

I got that expansion on Saturday but I haven't played it yet. I've read on the forums about people having problems with zombies where too many are spawning or they are hanging around too long.

It's mostly satire and just a cultual phenomenon, I think it's a pretty well regarded fact that there's no such thing as the "undead" and there never will be.
