Have you ever tried to dream while the radio is on?

It's interesting, to say the least - illustrates how dreaming works and makes one's dreams slightly less random because they'll end up taking something from what is said on the radio. Today I actually felt that I was in Afghanistan fearing for my life! (Alright, not a pleasant few seconds, but at least it's an exercise in empathy...)

The best are when science programmes are on... although I usually wake up much more at that point as my interest piques. In dreams it seems we're able to fantasize much more than in real life.

I've had many dreams influenced by whatever music or radio shows were playing at the moment.

I did. Feels pretty interesting. They can range from romantic to exciting, depending what song I am listening to.

I can't fall asleep with the radio on. I wish I could though. I'd especially like to fall asleep while listening to audiobooks.

Oh, I've had this happen a lot. I always sleep with the radio on, because total silence makes me uncomfortable. If the radio is on, while I am dreaming, what is playing will be heard everywhere in my dream. A few times I heard a song I don't like and was fanatically trying to turn the song off to no avail.

I usually fall asleep to music. Sometimes I fall asleep watching TV. I haven't noticed its influence on my dreams but maybe I'm just not paying attention to it.

can't fall asleep to softer music. However I can fall asleep to the likes of heavy stuff such as Iron Maiden all the way up to Meshuggah and beyond.

Thought about trying to use it to help block out the neighbors brats. There is nothing like the feeling of wanting to go and punt toddlers as they play outside your bedroom window when you are trying to sleep after a long nights worth of work.

BBC World Service and the Shipping forecast are an aid to sleep not a source of dreams sadly

Else I'd have weird dreams about Boomer, Dogger, Fisher, Focke, Malin, Lower Hebredes, German Bight, Viking, and all those other weird nautical names they use for the UK coastline. Variable mainly 3 or 4 becoming north west, occasionally six in the south east mainly fair, poor.

It's quite hypnotic

I have done that at times, only when I am really content and tired though. It is weird, and interesting.

I used to sleep with the radio playing in the background whenever I was sick. I'd hear music in my dreams, no matter what I was dreaming about. There were some times that I'd dream about people that I once knew, while dreaming those dreams. It was very strange.
