hi y'all :) I have recently been X-rayed and MRI'ed and the imagery shows primary degenerative spondylolisthesis, on the border between grade 2 and 3 [one doc says 2, the other doc says 3]. I have likely had this for 20 years but only recently with concomitant sciatica has its deterioration become apparent. I was wondering if there is anybody else here who has had to go through having back ailments that required treatment, please post with your own experiences in this regard. thank you in advance. :)

Constant and long-term problems. I am rather tall, 2 meters and decimals and I happen to have ostheoporosis (Spelling?). I guess the extra tallness adds to the ailment.

us tall drinks of water tend to be more subject to the forces of gravity and our inferior leverage gives us more wear and tear as well. dang. :hmph: I don't run into too many shorter people with back problems.

my osteopath told me that. I have to trust him 'cause he's smarter than me. the way he explained it made sense to me, in any case.

Yep, both recent and long-standing, but nothing to the scale of you guys. I have a bad slouch/hump-back and one leg longer than the other which means one hip is a bit higher than the other. I also have loose ligaments( I've heard i's common with aspies) which probably doesn't help. I am also starting to get knee problems and a masseur suggested it could be due to the abnormal range of movement.

No :) I'm a shrimp of about 155cm. But I remember a picture taken when I was about 5 ( It must have been about then because my brother, in the forground is about 1. I am standing in the background, with my knees at about a 110 degree angle. BACKWARDS. No word of a joke. Not so bad these days. I thought for a while I should possibly get tested for Marfan (my dad did die of an annuerism) but I hear Marfan people are abnormally tall.

I hope you never have to go through surgery or injections.

I'm somewhere between 177cm and 179cm, but I don't really have any problems with my back. I can offer a couple of tips to easing the strain on your back:

1. Don't ever bend over using your back - bending at the knees and picking an object puts a lot less strain on it than simply bending over.

2. Try not to lift anything over 25 pounds over your head - the body has a natural "power zone" between the shoulders and the upper thighs, and holding an object outside of it causes strain to your body

3. If you have to handle something a little heavy, get a firm grip on it and try to hold it as close to you as possible - again, it stays in your "power zone" and puts less strain on your body

Be careful everyone! That sounds like it hurts. :(

in the army we were required to be able to lift 100# over our heads. I think the army prematurely wore me out.

So do I . It sounds horrible. I hope your treatment goes well Blab.

To reiterate what Mikayla said, being a he-man ( or hewoman) is bad. In one job I had, on paper you couldn't lift anything above 15 kg ( about 30 lb) unless you had appropriate training blah blah. In reality, if you couldn't lift a 25kg bag of product, you were treated like a .... wuss. And often, because no-one was there to help, that's what you did. One guy actually said " Hey Opal can even lift a 25kg bag." Me - " That doesn't mean I want to" I weigh about 50 kg. Probably less at the time.

in the army I saw SO MANY people get medically chaptered out because they were made to do more than their bodies could withstand.

I was writing something but the door bell rang.

Nancy Sinatra. Another beautiful woman with good voice. Good. Lord, I love Nancy Sinatra. She is exceptionally sexy singing Bang bang.

I checked. She is Gemini, like Marilyn Monroe. How can it be that the Gemini/Taurus are the most beautiful women?

74? Nancy, how can you be 74 and look like you are 20?

Wedge fracture of a vertebrae and a couple of blown discs from a cycle accident years ago.

I'm good with it as long as I lift correctly and don't jump down stairs.
