Sent to you from here in Louisiana:

Stay out of direct sunlight as much as you can, remain well-hydrated so you can either perspire (male) or "glow" (female) freely while being certain to wear loose-fitting, full-length (to the wrists and ankles) clothing. Avoid fans (essentially making rooms into convection ovens) as much as possible, and keep the thermostat set near 80* or so if you do use A/C. Also, shower with your clothes on whenever you might wish (such as at bedtime).

The way I survive the heat in this wretched place is simply by staying indoors with the a/c on. Only go outdoors to get from your car to the building(your house, or wherever) or from building to building. Put your car in the garage, as well. At least it stays out of the sun, even if it is still roasting. Still, better start getting ready for more. When they extend the freeway, this place might become even MORE hot, as hard as that might be to believe.
