I don't have any grandiose dreams. Achieving normalcy would be grandiose in itself for me. I have goals I sometimes feel I am not good enough to ever achieve.

I think ruling the world sounds like a great idea. My grandiose ideas would be to put Autism into world governments.

I used to humorously dream about ruling the world, but I was never serious. I suspect you intended your post in a similar way. Actually ruling the world would be very tedious, and all the hard work it would take to get there would take valuable time away from studying mathematics. But the thought of having power, of achieving my goals and being able to rise above the constraints and unfairness of the world is a liberating thought to occasionally entertain. I am someone who gets very passionate about my interests, and it seems that you might also be such a person.

I also spent a lot of time self-studying mathematics, and I found it to be extraordinarily beautiful. Kind of like the way that nature is beautiful. It is full of rich patterns and symmetries. Somehow it is miraculously all just there, and there seems to be a vast, endless amount of it to explore, from the most minute details to the broadest vistas. Maybe looking at images of fractals and realizing that they arise through a mathematical process can give someone less familiar with mathematics some sense of this.

I always find it unfortunate that mathematics can seem so forbidding to the uninitiated. Some minds seem to react against the rigidity and precision and formality that is part of it. But it is a language, and once you learn the language the formal aspect becomes much more natural. Then intuition and imagination start to play a bigger role, which many people who have not studied mathematics might not expect to be the case.

On the other hand, I have always wanted to be a better visual artist, and I have great admiration for those who can create beautiful things and express their creativity through that medium.

My most grandiose dream at the moment is traveling to a tennis tournament, meeting Denis Istomin, interviewing him and writing the story of his life. Seeing the book published would be exciting.

My second most grandiose dream is achieving things most people have been doing for years. I am less confident of achieving these things than I am of someday achieving my first dream.

There's a comic called "The Far Side," where people sometimes talk to each other in equations.
