A temperate one without dangerous weather would be a start.

Maryland would be a great choice for you if you can find a less expensive area or if you qualify for Section 8.

I wouldn't.

But if I Had to choose a US state, maybe California since it's pretty similar to here in terms of climate & culture. Otherwise maybe Hawaii even though I've never been there - not sure, though.. might be too humid for comfort I dunno. Otherwise maybe one of the few places in the USA that have famous kiteboarding beaches.. Oregon, somewhere in the Carolinas, or Texas. (LOL not Texas.)

But the only reason I can think of for a Canadian to move to the USA is for $$$$$ they wouldn't get paid here. Otherwise pretty much everything is better here. Political stability, people, culture, healthcare, crime rate, nature, food supply, water, price of medicine etc etc. Only makes sense to join the brain drain moving South if you're offered the big bucks and that's a higher priority for you than being home surrounded by friends/family and the Canadian ways of life.

NY, CA, WA: More people with the same interests, fewer MAGAs.

I have always been a little fascinated with New York City, although I have never been.

Having visited three different US states, I wouldn't want to live in any of them.

Anything but Idaho, Florida, and Texas - and any other right wing nutter states.

May I be more specific and list cities I'd like to live in?

I'd choose either New York City or Boston, both cities I loved.

I keep seeing people bashing Texas. Texas is the best place I've lived and I moved back here on purpose, when I could have chosen to go live anywhere, including to another country. The cities in Texas are blue, politically. It is not at all like the stereotype people might have absorbed from the media. Houston has the best art scene of any city I know of, including New York, and great music, including experimental music, which is a very robust scene, plus quirky art events like the art car parade and the art bike parade and lots of quirky art happenings and performances, independent film venues, and on and on. Some neighborhoods are incredibly beautiful, with craftsman style homes and lots of lush greenery. There are great bike trails and nature parks. Lots of great cafes, restaurants and bars. And people are very laid back and kind. It's very hot, but personally I love that. Not that I want more people to move here, since it's already a booming city, which has unfortunately diminished its charm over the last couple of decades.

From what I understand Vancouver is not too terribly cold, relatively speaking, but most of Canada is just SO COLD! For that reason alone I would not consider living there. But I can think of a reason why a Canadian might move to the US: warmer weather! :D (Depending on where in the US, of course.)

Of course you can! (I realise you may have asked a rhetorical question there).

New York City does sound nice. I have never really considered Boston.

Boston is amazing, especially in the fall. You'd also like it if you enjoy history.

Just another part of the state of California (even though a part of CA. I live in is fairly desirable) such as N. Calif. wine-country.

Hawaii. I wouldn’t want to live on the mainland US. Hawaii seems like a picturesque place to go.

Ever since I was a young boy, I've wanted to live in Texas.
The climate is a lot like my own state. And the people seem really kind and value oriented.
Also, Texas barbecue makes my mouth salivate.
