Well, I imagine some people are tired of the Reddit vent posts even though I think there was only just a few threads in regards to the cesspool.

Anyways, I solely made a Reddit account just to find a personal shopper on r/internationalshopper to avoid tariffs. Turns out I got laid off and I shouldn't be shopping so I changed my mind. I suddenly got hooked on the website and admittedly I will often up career advice which tends to be all doom and gloom. Also I waste my time zombie scrolling which I could've used that time watching anime or cartoons.

These echo chambers make me pessimistic for the future and obviously impacts my mental health. I am now thinking of deleting my account. However, I've wondered what if I regret it? I had a little bit of fame when I suggested a clever name on r/plushies and that boosted my karma.

You do make a good point. It's a posibility you'll regret deleting your account.

Reddit though, I find is unavoidable, when researching most things, they are often the first result.

Deleting reddit is unlike deleting most other social media, you can freely browse the entirety of the website without an account.

So it boils down to posting, do you see yourself wanting to contribute to reddit in the future? Or are you happy just lurking there. I think if you find the answer to this question you may know what to do.

Eh, Reddit is not a really friendly place! But I think I understand where you're coming from. I wonder if I will regret doing something or not like deleting an account, especially if it's an irreversible action.

I've had four Reddit accounts since 2014 or 2015 but in 2022, I deleted all of my accounts and haven't had an account there since then. I still go back there now and then but I decided to ban myself from Reddit permanently!

But the choice is yours!

Hm, maybe I will keep it for now just in case if for some reason I needed to ask a specific question. Like someone said it's hard to escape Reddit when it monopolizes the search results. I could just add the prompt "-site:reddit.com" but I don't want to do that every single time.

I deleted all social media and only use the forums now.

I haven't used my Reddit account in ages, I had a stupid username and I posted some pretty dumb things.

I've joined, and deleted several times. Posted mostly in the cognitive testing subreddit. There's some highly disagreeable people there.
