Has anyone referred to diapers as pampers or seen someone do it? It's a pretty common thing in the Black and Hispanic community. I have seen whites do it to.

Most Europeans languages use "pamper" or a derivative, as such... :)

It's true here, too.

It's just one of the many brands that had been, well, the very thing that made proper-noun-into-common-noun'ed names.

Like xerox instead of photocopy.
Like we got payless instead of noodles.
Or we call colgate the toothpastes.
Or with strepsils instead of cough drops.

Well, where I came from, don't call tissue papers kleenex for one.

I know Pampers as being a certain brand of diaper made for kids aged newborn until 3.

I've always called them diapers and not Pampers. Can't recall anyone else calling all diapers Pampers, either.

I also usually call it a tissue and not Kleenex. Many other Canadians call it Kleenex, but I think they stopped selling Kleenex tissues in Canada recently.

"Cheezies" is a popular generic name for crunchy, cheddar cheese flavoured snacks. There is an actual Canadian brand called Cheezies, but I'm sorry to say I prefer Cheetos because I find Cheezies too salty.

Not in reference to diapers in general.

(BTW, we were a Luvs family)
