Finding a can of strong ale on a recycle bin this morning. It makes up in part for when I left two bottles of half skimmed in my letterbox yesterday, being the only things I'd bought, so I couldn't be bothered going up three filgths of stairs, before headiing out to the Médiatèque.

Would you believe somebody stole them? They did at least lock my box afterwards; very considerate of them...

I'm back at my apartment with the power back on.

It's a long story. Yesterday in the early evening the power suddenly went off in my area. I called up my mother on my smartphone and she fund out there an issue with a transformer that caused the outage. They said, whoever "they" are, that the power probably wouldn't come back on until 9 PM. Of course I knew they were lying and it always takes a lot longer than that. So I've got no electricity, no internet, and no AC and it's very hot and sticky. I didn't even have supper yet, and I couldn't cook anything so I decided to go to the shopping plaza and pick up some food to make cold sandwiches or cracker snacks. I knew it was going to be hard walking there due to the heat and humidity, but I thought "I can take it!", so I put on my shorts and got my water bottle and headed down there.

It was agony. I went in and out of the stores, which were reasonably cool but soon I was exhausted and sweating. I finally got the food, but I went inside a small restaurant and sat down just to rest. And then my mother appeared!
She had come to get me and take me over to her house so I wouldn't have to suffer the heat until the power came back on. But when she couldn't find me she realized I must have gone to the plaza to pick up something for supper. And it was lucky, too. I think if I tried to walk back home, up hill and two flights of stairs back to my apartment I might have ended up in the hospital. My mom says we can drive back and take the food from my fridge to her house so it wouldn't spoil. So we go back and start packing up all my food, and I had no time to sit and recover I had to pack some clothes and other things so I could spend the night over with her. When saw myself in the bathroom mirror I saw that I was red as a lobster. Needless to say, I was not enjoying this sudden unplanned trip to my mother's, but we managed to pack everything and drive in my mom's car with the AC.

When we got there all I wanted to do was take a bath and lie down, but mom offered to make me some supper, so I let her so I could have something to eat first. Then I was able to take a shower and lie down for a while. When I went to bed later that night I took until dawn to fall asleep, as usual, but mom woke me up at 10 PM because she had plans to visit a friend that afternoon so I should get ready to go home while it's still early. The power to my apartment didn't come back on until 11 the night before, but it's on now, and there was something about a bird or an animal that caused the outage. I spent half of the afternoon in bed.

It's hard to believe how lucky I am to have a mother like my mom. You're always hearing how awful other parents are, but my mom helped me get through all that with no problems. I guess she really is Super Mom. :)

I'm so glad I washed my teddy bear. Now when I'm in bed I keep smelling a lovely fabric softener smell coming from him and it relaxes me and helps me fall asleep. Plus it's made the fluff inside him puff out more so that he's softer and fatter and doesn't disappear under the pillows.

Yeah, I know, I sleep with a teddy bear. I always will. My partner doesn't mind.

I spent the day with my family and it was fun

Although I can't be around them too long or we start driving each other crazy. My parents don't make any sense at all
