With me it's the right thumb and I'm right-handed, and it's a fairly strong unconscious preference. Though I don't fold my hands very often. I'm probably more likely to interlace my fingers if I want to keep my hands still, or just put them in my pockets, though people used to say that was rude. It doesn't offend me to see it though.
Thank you!
It has always been an unconscious thing with me as well. The handedness thing came to mind because although I am right handed, I do a few things left handed. Shooting a bow and arrow for instance.
Thank you, again.
-- after reading The Myths of Human Genetics webpage --That was very interesting. I notice there is an article about how one folds their arms. I had not thought of that, and switching felt very unnatural. (I'm a left arm on top).
I believe I first started folding my hands in kindergarten. Before playtime, we had to settle down and sit quietly with our hands fold on the table. The order one would be released to select a toy and play was determined by how fast one could settle down, be quiet, and stay still. I only was selected first once, and I really wanted to select the train track. The train set was almost always one the first to be picked. I was dreadful student.
