I’m curious, how much does it differ from place to place?

I've been giving myself haircuts for over twenty years.

No more than 2 USD equivalent.
In the Philippines.

It's just the haircut.
Not the styling and anymore than that.

It used to be £37 for me but it seemed to have jumped up to £41 in the last year or so.

My last paid haircut was in 2018. Since then I've just been trimming off the split ends.
My old one retired and I had one of the worst conversations ever with the new one. It was like we were on different planets.

I decided it was too much work to find someone else to cut my hair.
I've learned to keep it out of zippers.

I stick my head in the freezer for a wile and then snap the ends off.

$50 ish. I paid $40 ish for the last decade & thought it was time for an increase. I'm one of a handful of clients she'll still see, & I drive 40 mins for the cut. She listens well & gave me a cut I'm so thrilled with that I keep going back. (I've tried a couple people closer, but no one seems to be able to even come close to how well she handles my hair. & they always want to try different ways that just don't work.) It's usually only two to three times per year, anyway.

I used to spend around $20/$30 pre-covid at different malls. I just got a basic haircut which was mostly done with a a razor. After covid my girlfriend bought a razor & started cutting my hair for free. I was mostly just going to the mall to get a haircut a couple times a year. Cass cutting my hair at home is a lot cheaper & more convenient. The job isn't quite as good but I've lost a bit of hair over the last 18 years due to male-pattern baldness(I'm doing some things to try & stop/slow it) & I started wearing a hat most anytime I go outside after moving to Vermont 14 years ago so I'm not expecting a perfect haircut job nor majorly care. Cass worries about how well she does it a lot more than I do.

When I run into someone completely bald in my area, I ask him if the high winds broke all their hair off.

I used to live in one small city and went to a cowgirl who did great haircuts.

Even better, she also sold tamales. When she had tamales for sale, you could count on her taking at least a couple of breaks in your haircut to deal with tamale customers.

Along with the tamale track on the edge of town two or three times a week, they were pretty much in competition for the best tamales in town.

Around 19 quid. The hairdresser I went to before that was charging me about 45 quid. So I go to the cheaper place.

Still a good haircut!

I remember the first time I went to a barber shop for a haircut.

I was terrified.

The downtown barber shop I walk past a lot charges $15. It's a regular old barber shop with one barber and one chair.
