Okay, my husband has reported a sore throat. If my calculations are correct, that means I should catch the cold on Friday night, leaving me at its worst Saturday through Monday, hopefully clearing by Tuesday. I have Friday, Saturday and Sunday off work anyway so hopefully I won't have to take any sick days.

Me or my husband haven't had a cold for like over a year so I suppose it's got to happen sooner or later.

I placed a different graphics card in COW (the name of my less than a year old game computer) and it works.
That's good.
I name all of my computers after Magic the Gathering cards or themes. The desktop background is a MTG card.

Feeling nostalgia. Remembering what it was like to wake up and feel good about the U.S. and the leadership.
I know not everyone will feel that way, but it is what is on my mind.

Make the answer short. Don't drag on and on...
I have a nice computer I built last spring. It would allow me to play Civilization 7 and install Windows 11. I was just going to use it for gaming with my sons. It also has the software for working with my 3D-Printer remotely. Something I need for a project for a friend.

Ah! Spoiler. The illusion of brevity.
Yesterday, after a day of the screen saver (blank screen), the graphics decided not to return when I was ready to use the computer yesterday afternoon.
I found a work around, and Civilization 7 works fine on my Linux computer. I'm currently working on a project for a friend, and she needs it before February 14, seven 3d printed hearts with a name of a grandchild on each. So I need to focus on that because I've never worked on a project like this with 3D printer. I have not had it very long. OS son says it is doable. It seems like it should be "easy" enough because I've done similar things with Ray Tracing.

If you are asking about the names, again, that is a nod to my sons and the game Magic the Gathering. Something we've been playing since... 1998, or so. So I have computers named after Magic the Gathering cards, because it reminds me of my sons.

The Cow computer was named because I usually use cards that are single word cards for names, like Grindstone, Worldslayer, Deathender, Seer, Akroma. The Linux computer is named Windstorm. There are a few more computers with similar names. Akroma as many cards using that name. So, that computer rotates the cards for it's desktop background. I named it COW because I thought it was funny, and I thought the card was funnier. I'm not 100% it is a real card. People make mockups all the time. :D

If you asking what the Interrupted Cow is about, I'll explain the best I can. Interrupted Cow can be played anytime. That is what the Flash designation is for. What is does is essentially stop the opponent from attacking the other player unless what they play is a mana ability. I'll have to ask OS for an example of that. I always check with him to make sure I'm reading the card correctly. I'm generally happy if I get it partially right.

Last status: COW with the new graphics card, booted in a lower resolution. I did a nice orderly reboot (as opposed to turning it off) and it started fine, but then went black again. So it is not the card. I'm wondering if it is the graphics card driver? As soon as I get it to boot with a picture again, I'll turn off the screensaver.

My friend is the only person I do and computer stuff for and that is because If I mess things up, she will not get mad at me while I try to fix things. She asked me who I call for computer problems. It told her I call me, but since I know it's me calling about a problem, I don't answer. Just let me fix it without my help.

I could go into more detail about each thing, but only if you ask for it.

Thank you for asking.

Fun Fact!
I started this after posting the video about what was on my mind, because I saw your post, and I wanted to answer it as soon as I posted the video. Video was posted at 1:57. This was posted about 3:20.

I remember one time, about 13 years ago, I was waiting at the bus stop for my bus home after attending my volunteer job. A couple stood near me, and one of them said casually that they remembered seeing me on the bus this morning, on the way to the location where my volunteer job was. They were just making friendly conversation, so I smiled at them and said ''yeah'', but I didn't know what to say after that, and so I felt the smile was glued to my face and I just stood staring at them awkwardly, and I could tell they were waiting for me to say something else. Then I felt other people at the bus stop were looking at me too, as I was being a bit socially awkward there. I've never been that great with talking to strangers. I go into shy mode.

I still cringe whenever this memory makes its way to the top of my mind, even though it was about 13 years ago. I often worry whether all the people I have made a fool of myself in front of in my life still remember it to this day too. I mean I know they're not thinking of it every day all the time, but they still might remember it every now and then, just like we all remember little encounters we've had with people in the past. I'm so glad I don't get buses regularly any more and that I live in a different city now and getting on with my own life as an independent married woman. Also I'm much older and wiser and less socially awkward now than I was in my early 20s.

We call them duvets now but I can remember when they first came on the scene and people called them continental quilts. I think it's because they came from the continent

My ex used to call lager "continental piss"

Awkward thoughts, slow thoughts. Smell of burning rubber from the poor wee brain.
