I don't make topics I often creep inside other threads and lay my eggs.
But as I was reading the "What are you wearing right now!" thread I saw that someone was wearing a t-shirt, pants and shoes.

Now. I'm Swedish and this is mainly a question to American people as I know this is very common over there.
Please help me out, help me to understand, I've always wondered but I never really remembered to ask.

Do you? and if so why do you wear shoes indoors? (WHY?!)

I don't because I like to be comfortable indoors....

Sometimes however I'll wear slip ons or socks.

Same here, I often wear socks/sheepskin slippers because it's nice and warm.

We need a professional indoor shoe wearer to answer this one.
I just do not see ANY logic/comfort behind it.

Some people wear shoes indoors because they need the support for their feet. I don't wear shoes indoors.

No. One of my parents is Japanese, and the rule when I was kid was "no shoes in the house." And I've stuck with that.

I personally don't wear shoes at home, but I can imagine that maybe someone who has really cold feet (e.g. bad circulation) would like to wear shoes indoors just to keep warm?

But, in that case, I would rather think about installing an underfloor heating system of something.

I never wear shoes indoors, and neither does my mom or brother. My dad is the only one in the family who wears shoes in the house, and it drives all of us crazy!

If you can please ask him why.

I can't say whether I'm a professional or not, but I wear shoes in the house, because that was the custom of my family. I don't know why they did it, I'm just doing what I've always done. I do have an intense dislike of slippers, and will never be caught dead looking like my old man.

My wife, on the other hand, takes off her shoes immediately when she gets home, and her socks, too. And in the winter, her feet are always cold. I tell her, "Put on some socks, then!" but she refuses. Which one of us is crazy? The one with popsicle toes and calluses and cracked heels, or the one with warm, dry, soft feet?

I have been to another message board where this was a raging topic of debate, each side thinking the other was nuts.

I hate shoes, I only wear them if I have to. They're uncomfortable to walk in and feel weird when I wear them in the house. But they are good for driving in and walking on harsh surfaces, so I guess that's a good point

I can't stand to have things on my feet....even socks. As soon as I get home, the shoes and socks are off.

I can hardly wait until I can wear my sandals instead of shoes. I'll wear sandals up until late fall.

mainly not, just socks, but most homes seem to have carpeting, so it's no big deal...

I can understand that you'll wear shoes then have Popsicle toes but why not wear socks or sheepskin slippers that cover the whole foot. I hate regular slippers as well and they are not warm at all. I need something that will cover my whole foot so I have always worn the kind that are soft, warm and all covering.

Regular shoes just seem so uncomfortable, I just can't understand how someone could walk around in them all day.
But I guess some do it due to inherited behavior because they have learned from other family members.

Maybe this is a good substitute for a shoe?

Those are pretty.

I might get me a pair if I find some.
