All of the stupid people are working in labs making prescription glasses for customers who have ok vision, good vision or poor vision.

A general lack of knowledge stemming from either a lack of desire to aquire knowledge or a lack of opportunity to aquire knowledge.

Some people are just plain dense, though.

I guess that it's the fact that many people can't see past the tips of their noses.

Peer pressure is a big one. I was never influenced by peer pressure.

aside from these things, it must be noted that everybody, no matter how intelligent, has their stupid moments. even somebody as sharp as bill gates, has moments where foot must be removed from mouth - back in the early 90s during one of the early anti-MS lawsuits, bill said words to the effect that he could put a ham sandwich in his OS and not violate antitrust laws- whether or not it was true it was certainly an inpolitic thing for him to say at that time, and it didn't make his case versus the feds any easier to defend. plus it made him sound uncharacteristically stupid, like a legalist intellectual thug.

Ignorance can be considered
another factor of stupidity.

Evidentally it is a lack of interconnectiveness in the brain causes stupidity. This is based on recent research that shows highly intelligent people have brains that have a very high level of interconnectiveness.

I'm going to say ignorance, a lack of willingness to learn, and a willful disregard of facts.

For me, being stupid is very different from not being intelligent. I know people who are in the borderline ret*d/ret*d range who I would not consider stupid, and some incredibly stupid intellectuals.
