Has anyone seen her new hat? http://shine.yahoo.com/event/summerbeau ... toViewer=1 She must really love hats. Not to mention that she's brave to be wearing such hats. I like wearing hats myself, but they have to be functional.

People who wear outrageous clothes obviously are looking for attention. BUT, at the same time, people who dare to buck the norm as oftren perceived as brave, daring, original, outspoken, strong... may people WISH they could have the courage to do such things.

When I was younger I did this intentionally too. I realized early in high school how that dynamic worked - people would come to me to start conversations becasue i painted my sneakers or wore a ripped and re-pinned tshirt (way before that became punk trendy...). Yeah, I got alot of flak too but the payoff made it worth it to me.

Being a fan of hats, I had expected to like the links, but... that's some [questionable] taste she's got there. >_> On a related note, I like fashion hats and think people should not be so afraid to wear them. It was one of my favorite things about Japan--a much freer culture fashion-wise; even normal adult people wear all kinds of hats.

You mean in the one where she's photographed from the wedding? She was wearing a LOT of mascara/eyeliner or something. If she was looking for attention, she got it. Her hat was the one that got most attention at the wedding. Although she should have at least worn a prettier color, like blues or purples.

Victoria was her grandmother's great great grandmother, so I probably lost track. I just LOVE the hairstyle Victoria wore when she was younger. I'd actually wear my hair like that, too, if I could do that hairstyle on myself. And my parents let me get out of my room wearing it.

This is a bit dark so you can't really see that the ringlets loop back under her ears and go into the bun on the back of her head. What looks quite simple is really quite complicated.
It's a nice look though and the young Victoria was very pretty. It's a shame this picture doesn't really do her justice - she looks quite wooden.

Yeah. Sometimes I wonder how much of their day they spent in front of the mirror, just getting their hair done! That leaves less time in for the rest of the day. They must have had to get up early in order to be ready for breakfast, probably. It's one of my most favorite hairstyles. I've seen in on Grand Duchess Alexandra Nicholaevna, too. Of course. Both Victoria and Alexandra wore such pretty dresses. Empress Marie Alexandrovna, too. Then again, the three of them were around the same generation/time period, so I guess it makes sense. Their dresses were not way too plain, or way too fancy, if you know what I mean. Like perfect in between. I've never seen that hairstyle on any of Alexandra's sisters or cousins, though. I guess she was the only one who favored it.

The one that she wore to the wedding looks like a pink toilet seat.
