I wish I was born in the late 40s(about 48 or 49), and I would have grown up in the 50s and early 60s, came of age in the mid 60s, and lived as a young adult through the 1970s.

Why, that's one of MY special interests. I don't have a particular time, but more like if I was Doc Brown in Back To The Future

I spent half the 80's inside the 50's, I even found someone who shared the aesthetic - my schizophrenic gf. We looked great out to dinner although we never had anything to say to each other. Which was sort of 50's.

I used to, but then realized it lacked purpose.

Yes, I wish I were born into a different generation - seeing as a lot of my interests stem from the 60s into the 80s. I also believe that life would've been much simpler as opposed to how complicated things are today - Plus, the music/art was much better, it had much more meaning and less of a consumerist purpose. . . Being a teenager in the 21st century sucks.

Thing is, you can enjoy the things from that time as well as the present. Not everything in the present is complete s**t like so many young people like to think. Your children will be fascinated by these times; while they're actually happening, no one really feels like anything is special and a lot of people wish for the recent past.
Someone says "Music sucks these days..."
Cool. You can enjoy music from the "good old days" plus the good stuff that still comes out today.
You have a lot more options as far as entertainment goes than you would if you lived in that time.

Yes, I wish that I was born in the future. By looking at the past and extrapolating, I can predict that people in the future have much more interesting lives than people in the present.

Yes..would have preferred to experience the 60's & 70's as a teenager/young adult.
University culture was way better then too.

Those people are in their 60's now. Age can be so cool when done well...

Yeah, I understand that part of it. And there is some good music/entertainment out today, I agree. However, to me anyway, a lot of the stuff that gets seen doesn't MEAN very much. . . And I would just appreciate the simplicity of life if nothing else, as it seems to match my basic knowledge of how to survive.

I actually kind of like my generation. Born in '89. At the same time there are many things not to like about it, but the same thing can be said about any generation. I'd rather be born now than earlier.

Musically speaking though, I would want nothing other than to have been an adult in the mid to late 1960's.

I also wish I were born in the distant future.

I would have loved to be coming of age during the Mid 60s but in England instead of Canada.

I actually wish I had been born in the 80s or 90s.
The 1960s were not a cakewalk for autistic people, despite the hippie culture.

Sincerely,

Matthew

Its very hard to say. It was apparently a lot easier to get accepted into fighter pilot or military aircraft training from the 50s to 80s. You didn't have to have a college education and even if my eyesight wasn't perfect I could have probably worked on a B-52 during the SAC era. Then I realize that in reality I never did sink into the military style of life when I tried it, I'm a dreamer.

I probably would have liked the 60s to some degree. I like how people look in movies from that era until around 1979 then everyone starts looking really clunky in terms of hair and style.

It seems like everyone wishes they were born in a different time period. My mother wishes she was born in the 1930's while I wish I was born in the 1960's. I personally feel I would have been better adapted to the 60's or 70's. Technology nowadays has gone too far and I feel like we have no privacy for anything. Everything is out in the open, anything you could do could be uploaded on the internet quickly.

I love when people who actually lived in those times come and show how they really were for a lot of people. :D
