An older man, driving in front of me on a city street, slowed down to about 5 mph when I was behind him.  I had the low-beams on.  I was able to pass him legally, and drive another 3 blocks before stopping in the left-turn lane.  With the through-traffic light green, the old man pulls up alongside me and glares at me.  I pointed at the green traffic lights in his lane and motioned that he should drive through.  He rolled down his window and flipped me off as he burned rubber across the intersection.

After making my turn, I pulled in to a gas station and checked all around my car for any graffiti that would provoke such behavior, and there was none -- no bumper-stickers or religious/political symbols, either.

It's been almost two hours and I'm still wondering what his problem was.

gesticulations can be misconstrued.

A guy I worked with once had the police gesticulate to put his seatbelt on ( a curled hand moving up and down ) , he thought they were calling him a "w*ker"

But on a serious note some people don't like being overtaken. The slowing down to 5mph was him "teaching" you not to drive so close (which is a matter of opinion) or maybe he thought you were on high beams?

The fact you failed to rise to him probably pissed him off even more.

He's a moron. Plain and simple.

Perhaps car mirrors should give the warning that "objects may be more stupid than they appear"?

A few months ago I bought a huge bag of rat nuggets for my pet rats and neither of them like the nuggets. So instead of wasting it, I poured some of the rat nuggets in the local garbage dump by the bushes for the wild rats (I have seen wild rats around the dump). But when I went back there a couple of days later the nuggets were still there untouched, and I was surprised because I thought I was making life easier for the wild rats. Maybe no rats like rat nuggets.

Something completely unrelated that baffles me on a regular basis, including today, is why people think the year matters so much. They act like it being 2021 will magically make everything better, but really, all it is is one day passing into the next, just like every other day.

There are people who are slightly drunk or high too, which brings them into a rage over anything if they choose to drive.

I've encountered similar drivers 1ce or 2ce , it made me angry too as the 'flipping off' was totally uncalled for.


I actually zoomed past the guy who did it with my brother in the passenger seat next to me, in March--

I beeped the horn loudly repeatedly to show him my anger, and took the exit.

That man had even put my car at risk by trying to swerve to get me to panic and __?, prior to the flipping off, so I felt very angry.

I told my brother I couldn't drive on the highway just then, I was too angry.
