This poll is for my own personal curiosity.

NOTE: Please answer ONLY if you have Asperger's, or strongly suspect that you have Asperger's (or High Functioning Autism or similar condition).

If you do not have Asperger's/HFA, but want to see the results of the poll, please choose the last option. Thanks!

**UPDATE** I've decided to include most autistics in the survey. I'm mainly looking for people with "alien" thinking. So, if you're autistic and have no problem understanding any of this, feel free to respond. **

Choose the closest option. For instance, if you are mostly European but you had an American Indian ancestor way back when, choose "Eurasian." Or, if I didn't name your area exactly, choose the one that seems like the closest fit.

For the purposes of this poll, use these definitions:

Eurasian: Europe, Western Asia, Turkey, the former Soviet "stans," other Turkic peoples, Persia, Mongols

Arabic/North Africa: Arabian peninsula, non-black and non-European people from Northern Africa

South Asian: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh

East Asian: Han Chinese, Korea, Japan

Southeast Asian: Southern China (non-Han), Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Burma

American Indian (North): Native peoples of North America that are not Inuit/Eskimo or Hispanic

Central and South American Indian: Native peoples from Central and Southern America, Hispanics from this area that are mostly non-European and non-African

Inuit/Eskimo: Native peoples from the Arctic area, including Siberia

Sub-Saharan Africa: people who trace most of their ancestry to Sub-Saharan Africa (blacks, pygmies, !Kung)

Pacific Islander: Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia, and Australian Aborigines

Black/White: If you are approximately half Black, half White, choose this option.

Glorious Rainbow: If you have a wide mix of ancestry with no one area predominating, choose this.

None of these: If you somehow fail to fall into any of these categories, choose this option (please elaborate below)

I do not have Asperger's or High Functioning Autism: If you do not have Asperger's or High Functioning Autism, choose this option

Since you don't have mine on the poll, I'll say Earth. (50% European, 50% Jewish)

I have NVLD rather than AS or autism, so I chose the last option like you wanted. But if you're curious, my ancestors are northern European. 8)

Well, Judaism is a religion, but if you're Ashkenazi Jewish, that would be clearly "Eurasian." Though if you're Hebrew... hmmm, I hadn't thought of that. It's Semetic, so you could group it with the Arabs. *ponder* Since it's half/half I suppose it still doesn't fit neatly in a category, does it? Ah well.

Well, I'm looking to include people who have the "alien" thought process and are of average or above average intelligence - people that are more or less HFA, but to exclude all NeuroTypicals.

I'm interested in this subject also, but I think this poll doesn't represent global AS as this is an English-speaking forum and most english speakers are Eurasian.
Maybe there could be another poll within the Eurasians? Is it possible that people from northern Europe have a higher incidence of AS than those from the south? But I guess you'd have a similar problem with the language barrier. :?

Indeed. I've actually been thinking these same things. I'll probably whip up a new poll after I accumulate responses for a couple days or so.

It would be nice to be able to research this topic properly, but I'm afraid I have a very small budget.

Europe mainly, but also America and Africa. Thats only going back 200 to 1700 years. Going back 4,300 years, my ancestors would be from Sumer.

Both grandparents on ym dad's side were Czech (Bohemian)....(with a rumor of some Gypsy ancestry)...only confirmed by the swarthyness, and strong muscial inclinations that seem to exist on that side...no concrete evidence that I know of....They came to the states between the two world wars

My moms side(she is from New York)....Irish(her paternal grandfather was from Ireland), English Welsh with a streak of Native American supposedly from her maternal grandmother

All combined in varying quantities.
