Why is writing on my hand so wrong?

I'm driving, I'm at a stop light, I'm thinking, I remeber I need to stop at the library and laundrymat before the days out. So reach over and grab my pen and write it on the side of my hand.

Yesterday my best friend( a NT girl) sya stop it. That it makes me look like an idiot, and that noone over rthe age of eight does it.

That night I'm getting to know the new girl at the check in desk of my YMCA ( a gym) and I bring it up. She stops a guy walking out about the same age and they both say the same.

I jokingly said what if I strapped a clipboard to my thigh liked fighter pilots. They said it would be better .
I would nevr ( as far as i can remember) ask a girl for her number and then write it on my hand in front of her

But why is it so bad? I was really shocked at how bad people told me it was.

it's bad? i do that all the time. sometimes a piece of paper that might get lost just won't cut it.

besides it's right there.. you see it all the time and remember.

Well, ink can seep into your bloodstream through your hand, or so I have heard. This might just be another urban legend made up by annoyed parents, I dunno. Besides this, I see no real problem with it, your hand is a (no pun intended) handy surface that is always available to write upon.

It's not unusual for medical people to jot down things on their gloves, but maybe that's different?

But you see ? You're as clueless as I was less than 24 hours ago.

THis writing on the hand thing is probably just one of the 1001 things that get us treated like freaks "out there".

I don't WANT to stop writing on my hand.

Wonder if I can find "Dear Abby" on the net . . .

I carry a few 3X5 cards in my pocket. I can keep what I write or give the card to someone else.

I write on my hand. If people don't like it, that's their problem.

By the time I get home from work, my hand is a freaking colage of numbers tha tI needed to remember thruout the day, lol

It's not actually "bad" in an objective sense, it just demostrates low social value to others (It's an indicator that you aren't prepared enough to have a place to write notes as well as you don't care that the people you interact with will notice weird marks over your hands.)

Now, you may debate these, saying that it's useful and so forth, and you don't care... but NTs do care, and this lowers your social value in their eyes.

I don't write on my hands, but I do spend a lot of time working with whiteboards and the dry-erase marker ink gets embedded in my hands. Plus I use these cheap blue pens (that I absolutely love!) that don't really dry too quick so my hands get all blue from that ink too.

It's not really that harmful, but it does rub off on things, like my laptop's whitish keyboard.

I would say, cool if you want to do it, but I would suggest a little notepad or something more like that. At the very minimum it's more permanent and you don't lose info when you wash your hands

Hopefully I will have done whatever it was I was suppossed to remember by the time I wash my hands.
I only do it for short term.
Grocery list etc are on paper.

I wonder if paint on my studio clothes "devalue" me in social Nt eyes? I'm proud of it I'm not afraid to get dirty or stained when I'm working. I have "nice " sets of clothes but sometime you have to go out in your "".scrubs"

I'd wwrite on both hands if I could just so I could annoy everyone.
