What can I say, I have these little things! I really hate all the bells and whistles they come with.... why do you need a mp3 player and a camera on it? It's a PHONE! You use it to talk to people with!
I also hate these things because most of the people who have there in my area talk on them everywhere, like mall, store checkout, or car (which is illegal here). It gets on my nerves.
However I am planning to get one so that I can use it for an emergency (car breakes down, gets lost, involved or witness a accident). I told my family that no one is getting the number and they responded with 'what if there is an emergency and we need to contact you?' I told them that I think the emergency involves the victim, how does calling me help them?
Here is how I look at it. For example lets way 100 miles away my mom gets a heart attack, the first thing that should be done is call 911, get her to a hospital. Wither she is stable or dying it is nice to call me, but it's not going to change her condition, all focus should be made to make sure she is alright. I would give my number to my family to call me in a emergency where someone is in the hospital, but I can't trust them to call only for those situations. If I do give some of my family my number, they are just going to call me with trivial things that are not an emergency. I am not going to pick up the cellphone of those kinds of issues which I KNOW that they will call with even if I tell the only call for an emergency.
Everyone knows that I spend most of my time home, they want me, the call me there, if they get my answering machine, they leave a message.
Last year my brother was in a serious bike accident and was on life support. I found out about it that day by checking my messages and went to the hospital. The person who witnessed the accident used his cellphone to call 911, which to me is what the cellphone is really for.
Anyone else like this? Or how do you look at cellphones.
