The first method seems a bit strange. I've tried putting ice on my eyes a few times, and it worked, but only temporarily. I guess the best solution is to stop procrastinating and get more sleep.

I guess I have a pretty loose definition of "friend". But then again, we do see each other outside of class, for example at parties and school events, and we sit at the same lunch table and chat everyday. And the way I first met my friend/crush is by actively going over to him (who had been sitting alone everyday at the time) and expressing interest of friendship. Yes, I am one of those people.
I also have trouble remembering names. I can remember what people's faces look like, but names simply elude me the first few times I encounter somebody. Maybe practice would help?
Apparently, forgetting names rather than faces is fairly common among any group, so there should be no problem, although there must be a method for optimizing that part, in which case practice would help.

As it turns out, internalizing the concept of approximating square roots is rather easy. It has the interesting side-effect of almost muting the auditory input and it figuratively kills time at a surprising rate. There is an abundance of patterns, but the easiest one would have to be the geometric mean approximation or the cutoff near 8. In the end, it can be simplified to locating the number's placement (arithmetically for low-precision approximations) between two key numbers.
