Psssht, trochaic, schmochaic. I count in musical time signatures.
Poetic meters give a separate name for everything when the only difference is the presence or absence of pick-up syllables or "notes", which would not affect the time signature in music.
Music is so much more systematic. Who needs anapestic trimeter when you've got 12/8 time?

(I've been familiar with musical notation since I was little, and I've only just learned about scansion. I'm having a hard time adapting to poetic terms, as I've always thought about rhythm in everything in terms of time signatures.)

On a previous topic, my friendcrush is obsessed with Skyrim. It drives me nuts. :x

Hmm, I must investigate musical theory as an upgrade of sorts to prosody!

Back to fire and ice. This isn't a quote, but it still fits the theme:

Dear ProfessorX, Didn't the believers leave drawn patterns called Ve-Ve on someone's house to notify that a curse had been placed upon all who dwelled there, or something like that? They also sold things called Gris-Gris to protect FROM curses. I have read about them(ever hear of Marie Laveau?) for years...they were one scary group in the 1800's.
Now, Voudon and Santeria and Palo Mayombe are perfectly legal in Florida, chicken sacrifices and all!

Yes, such is quite true in terms of Voodoo practices and rituals as such. Yes, I've heard of Marie Laveau, as being one of the most famous fortune tellers & voodo queens of New Orleans as, like Marie Laveau I'm of a mixed nature but, rather I'm speaking of a modern decendant nature not relating to my mom or dad but, great-great grandmother.
Yes, as you mentioned many thing relating to Voudon,Santeria,Palo Mayombe are legal yet, I've not seen anything resembling of a criminal nature at least to my knowledtge so far..

DearprofessorX, I saw that movie, and watched parts of it peeking between my fingers, thank you....
"I will take you places you have never been,
I will show you things that you have never seen,
And I shall watch the life run out of you"

I had read the book as well....at onetime, Peter Straub was one of my favorite authors!

To Whom I May Concern, Albirea is so talented, it's intimidating!
I do need to ask her why someone put chains on that magnificent griffin; that is cryptid abuse, and I disapprove!

Dear EmmaUK, I stole it from Shrox; he posts the most beautiful(or funny) pictures!
It took two members to teach me how to turn it into an avatar, and no one was sure if he (she?) was a rat until Puddingmouse kindly informed us that it is a Dormouse....Thank you again, Puddingmouse,Magus of Mice!
