When 1 person lies, nobody is safe
When 10000 lie, to be honest is a death sentence

А как первый обман - да на заре туман.
А второй обман - закачался пьян.
А как третий обман - он ночи черней,
он ночи черней, он войны страшней.

Today is my anniversary, one year on WP. Thank you all for your tolerance of my undisciplined train of thought :D

even google translate doesn't make this understandable to me:

And as the first deception - yes, at the dawn of fog.
And the second deception - swayed drunk.
And as the third deception - he’s blacker nights,
he is blacker nights, he is worse than war

??

My unprofessional translation:

The first lie - fog at the dawn.
The second lie - drunken babble.
The third lie - blacker than night.
Blacker than night. Scarier than war.

Or maybe Russian poetry of Soviet times needs a lot of cultural context to understand.
First two lies are just casual - but the third lie blackens your soul, there is no return from the world of deception you enter with it.

well if most people's souls are dimmed/reduced from that, it makes them more powerful to lie. strength in numbers.

That's how Soviet Russia worked.

Regardless of how often you watch movies and with this year's Oscars set for February 9th,
do you agree with this list?

Top 6 Movies That Won Best Picture (But Have Not Aged Well Since)

1.) Crash; which won the 2005 Oscar for Best Picture

Reason: Despite a strong social message and great performances from an all-star cast, bland story-lines and a heavy-handed script many see as reasons to view this as one of the worst movies of the 2000s.

2.) The Artist; which won the 2011 Oscar for Best Picture

Reason: Don't get me wrong, I actually like The Artist because of how well-done it is and how great of a loving homage it is to the Silent Film Era, but there are so many problems with The Artist that one should just facepalm many times instead and imagine telling off the lead character for having an uncontrollable ego.

3.) Argo; which won the 2012 Oscar for Best Picture

Reason: Yes, it's a great movie about real-life espionage, but whitewashing has made this one of the least likeable films to have won Best Picture since 2012.

4.) Lawrence Of Arabia; which won the 1961 Oscar for Best Picture

Reason: Yes, this epic directed by the great David Lean will always be on of the greatest films of all time but many now consider it one of the least likeable Best Picture winners for the same reason as Argo; whitewashing.

5.) Around The World In 80 Days; which won the 1955 Oscar for Best Picture

Reason: Filmed in 12 countries with a big budget for its time, many view it now as a movie that relies on too many cameos and over-the-top dramatic cinematography to be entertaining.

6.) Gladiator; which won the 2000 Oscar for Best Picture

Reason: It received primarily mixed reviews and to this day, many still call out historical inaccuracies that were present in Gladiator.

Since seeing it at the end of one of the Godzilla movies (don't know which one, I only saw the end), I seem to have become obsessed with Ghidorah, the three-headed space dragon.
