The city of Paris has more dogs than people and the state of Wyoming has more deer than people.

Doppler effect.

Waves emitted by a moving object as received by an observer will be blueshifted (compressed) if approaching, redshifted (elongated) if receding. It occurs both in sound as well as electromagnetic phenomena, although it takes on different forms in each.

All integers are rational, but almost all rational numbers are not integers. All rational numbers are algebraic, but almost all algebraic numbers are not rational. All algebraic numbers are computable, but almost all computable numbers are not algebraic. All computable numbers are real, but almost all real numbers are not computable.

GLOSSARY:
The real numbers are the complete "number line", going to infinity in both directions.

An integer is a member of the set {....,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,...}.

A rational number is a real number which can be written in the form p/q where p and q are integers and q is not 0.

An algebraic number is a real number x such that there is some nonzero polynomial P with rational coefficients such that P(x) = 0.

A computable number is a real number x such that there exists a Turing machine (a computer program) T which can specify x to any needed level of precision given enough time.

"Almost all" is defined in terms of measure theory.

Rayleigh-Jeans law
For a blackbody at thermodynamic temperature T, the radiancy R over a range of frequencies between nu and nu + dnu is given by

R = 2 pi nu2 k T/c2.

Paris also has a sewer system that mirrors it's streets.. And aside from that, apparently there are many miles of underground tunnelling and spaces that, while technically illegal to do so, is nevertheless frequented by quite a few hundred people iirc.. There's a community down there, though they visit as opposed to staying.
Thanks for all the quite interesting posts :) keep it up ;)

Kepler's laws.

Kepler's first law
A planet orbits the Sun in an ellipse with the Sun at one focus.

Kepler's second law
A ray directed from the Sun to a planet sweeps out equal areas in equal times.

Kepler's third law
The square of the period of a planet's orbit is proportional to the cube of that planet's semimajor axis; the constant of proportionality is the same for all planets.

11,000 years ago [give or take], the first large city on earth was Chemi Shanidar, in what is now Iraq, with a population of about 150 people.

Yay more stuff.
Must confess I couldn't make a lot of the post about numbers at all. fudo is no whiz

Or a lot of the science really.. not well read at all.
Still, don't let that dissuade anyone, it certainly doesn't have to be fudo-friendly to be quite interesting. :)

Erm.. Usagi? Would you mind terribly lifting a pic from my fb and putting it here? I would do it myself if I could.. Just a pic of Fudo&co that might be quite interesting to some. The one I put up today like
