What are you growing? Remember you can dehydrate them or sautee in butter and freeze.

Not too many fungi out and about near Christmas, but I have occasionally come across trees listening to us in the winter.

I grew psychedelic mushrooms. I ended up throwing away 16 lbs of dried mushrooms. It's a lot easier to grow them than it is to sell them.

And even in the winter you can still find Turkeytails. :D

^ Not to mention purple ones. :D I suspect there are a number of similar species, but I don't know if the color reflects that, or if it's derived from whatever the bracket is growing on.

Oooo! Beautiful. Turkey tails are also being investigated for mycoremediation. They can remove some toxins from waste products.

Ecuador Cubensis. I've had my best & most intense trips on these fun-guys. Definitely open to trying other strains & varying doses, but since these were plentiful to me several years ago from a friend I dunno if I'll ever top my experiences with them. I'll try, though. :P

^ Alas, that wasn't the kind of "mushroom appreciation" that this thread was originally created for (which was nature photos). :D Perhaps someone can start a "drug appreciation" thread in the Random section -- it would probably attract followers. 8)

Appreciate this!

I'm not the first to post such in this thread. I know because I read it up until now. :) It is my single greatest personal appreciation of fungi, though, and thus relevant.

That thing you posted looks super cool, though. I've never seen a geometric fungi like that irl, or in pics for that matter.

Some of my favorites -- most people never notice them because they are so small.

Also one of my favorites. They pop up periodically in garden pots with other plants. It gives me a little burst of pleasure whenever I see them.

I've still never seen one in the wild. It's one of those creatures that ought to be in a sci-fi movie (where no one would believe it actually exists). :D
