hope into the WABAC machine and fly back to march 13, 1986, stop off at Olde Discount and buy about 500 shares of Microsoft stock, then fly back to the present and sell it and move to my Oceanside abode of my dreams, high on a cliff overlooking the beach, sittin' pretty. that would be one vintage thing i'd unload, the IPO Microsoft stock.

I don't collect them, but I like looking at them. I went to some vintage shops with my parents in 2013, and I liked that.
Sometimes I look at photos of things like record players and typewriters, and I imagine what it would be like to try to live like it was still the 60s. It seems fun.

I do stuff like that, though maybe more like 80s than 60s. Sometimes I'll just turn off the Internet and play on an older computer and/or video game console, on a CRT, or watch some VHS tapes.
I love listening to records, but I haven't in a while. For some reason, listening to records is always more fun with friends. We'll take turns picking out good ones to spin while we play videogames...it's especially nice for Atari and arcade stuff, where most games didn't have their own music.

Speaking of CRT monitors, I still have the original CRT monitor (21" flatscreen. Try and imagine the weight) from my first computer, a Quantex desktop. I would love to have a vintage computer setup with a few different kids hooked up to one monitor, keyboard, and mouse via KVM switch, but I do not have the space for such a thing at the moment.

I'd have to see the backs of them for the details, but my biggest TV is a cheap late 2000s Dynex that could probably use a few recaps; some of the geometry is slightly off. But it takes composite, s-video, and component, and has built-in stereo speakers (though I have it hooked up to a system). My other TVs are just little Magnavoxes. I'd love to get one of those big console TVs some day, one of those woody ones that just sat on the floor. They used to sell them for $15 all the time, but a lot of thrifts won't take CRTs anymore =( Would be convenient to have something that accepts RGB, but that's pretty rare in NTSC land.
My main PC monitor is an early 2000s Dell. It's probably 15", and doesn't go much higher than 1024x768 75Hz comfortably. But it's decent, and has an option to change the color temp. to 6500K, which I really like.
My old computers are hooked up to an early 90s Compaq (13"?), the picture is kind of dark and the plastic is very yellow, but it does a good job for stuff from that era. Might be too dark for FPS though, if I ever put my Pentium machine back together.
I also have a 1992 CompuAdd about the same size, I think it accepts CGA input (if I had any), and it's in much better shape than the Compaq but needs a recap.
And my MONSTER IBM 9521 from 1994 (21"), I think my uncle probably used it for graphic design, these things were top-of-the-line back then. Sadly needs a recap =(
I don't have to imagine, I bet my IBM is just as heavy. That thing has to be around 80 lbs at least.

I also love vintage items! :>
The things I collect most are VHS tapes (Of older anime I enjoy! I have quite a few Ranma 1/2 tapes, and two imported Sailor Moon tapes!), Cassette tapes (Most of my favorite music is from the 80s, so luckily, they are quite easy to come by! Some of them, that is, heh. I still have alot rarer ones of less popular albums I am always on the prowl for!), & Old games (for my SNES and PS1)
I also have 2 80s/90s color block windbreakers which I thrifted. (Sad story, though; in 7th grade I wore one of them to school and I was made fun of for it because some contemporary of mine said "Why are you wearing a flag for a jacket?!" Whatever, though. I was being bullied anyways so that didn't make much difference. Also, I felt *TOTALLY RAD* in it! :>) I suppose most vintage items I collect are from the 80s!! Which makes sense; as I have had a fascination for the 1980s since I was quite young. :>

^ Amazing! Most of the vintage items I desire to collect are items from the 1980's, but I also like the 1970's and 1990's because those were the other decades my parents grew up in.
I am also jealous that you have some vintage windbreakers!
I really love bright colors, which is one of the reasons I love the fashion from that decade, as well as how every decade of fashion is unique.
I also love Ranma 1/2, and I really love Sailor Moon. In fact it is my favorite anime of all time. I usually either watch old or new anime, but it just depends.
I also listen to music from the 1970's-1990's everyday, so it almost makes me feel like I am in that time period in a way. I could probably recommend you some songs of different genres from those decades if you really want to find some good stuff.
Also, can you maybe show some of your items that you have collected? If you don't want to, that's ok, I am not one to force another person! ![]()
^ Aha, thank you! :> And oooh, the 1970s and 1990s are cool as well. Really, just every decade has interesting items from it! Every decade within the past 100 years the very most I would say, since so much technological progress has been made in such a short span of time!
And oh, my windbreakers! :> Yes, I also find the bright colors and color block very appealing! Say, if you live in Midwestern US, you should try visiting a store called Ragstock. I've never bought from there personally, but I have visited once; and they have LOADS of 80s & 90s clothes. Most of all, ugly sweaters and windbreakers! It is a bit pricer than thrifting, of course, but it's a good place to ever try! :> But gosh, 80s fashion is truly the most interesting and wild fashion of all. To the fanny packs and mom jeans, and to the spandex and scrunchies; it's so wild it almost seems like a different universe to me having never lived during it, haha ^^
And you love Ranma 1/2?! Oh heck yes, that is one of my favorite animes ever in the whole world!! !! !
and oh, I see, I see, Sailor Moon is wonderful, too!! ! Who is your favorite Sailor Scout? Mine is Sailor Mercury & Jupiter!! And same here, I like old and new anime as well. I'm a bit choosier in recent years though since alot of the plot lines in newer anime are fairly similar, unfortunately.
And music from that time period is the best. And that feeling; yes, me too. And that is a great feeling to be carried away to another time period by a song! And aaah, I would say yes to recommends but I already listen to alot of stuff from then that I am very obsessed with ^^' for example, Depeche Mode, Devo, New Order, etc. Those are my favorites! I also like Culture Club and 80s mainstream pop as well, of course!
As far as my collection goes, sure I can! I don't when I'd be able to photograph them as it is getting a tad bit late here, but when I get a chance to I definitely can ![]()

I actually live in Texas, sadly, so I won't be able to visit that place. However, I am going to a vintage clothing store tomorrow called Passport Vintage for the first time, which has a lot of vintage clothing there. I am so excited!
Yep! I watched all of Ranma 1/2 and Sailor Moon!
I like the original five Sailor Guardians, but if I had to choose, it would be Sailor Mercury, since she is so intelligent, shy, cute, and mature.
I listen to both popular and more underground songs from the 1970's-1990's, so there is a unique blend of music taste inside of me. What is one of your favorite songs that you listen to? One song I really like right now is LDC's song "Die Schwarze Zone" from 1992, which is basically really early techno/trance music. I also like listening to New Order's famous 1983 hit "Blue Monday." Whenever I start listening to that, I get lost in a world where all the friends in my mind are dancing and enjoying the tune... Ah...
I have a fanny pack somewhere, just a black one. I looked all over for it a year or so ago, but I couldn't find it =/
They were the butt of every joke, but there are many times when I could really use one. A typical pair of mens' pants only has so many pockets.

I bought myself a nice vintage bicycle a couple of months back, it's a Dawes Ranger, which is both rare and beautiful.
I had to sell some stuff too:
20 copies of OMNI magazine
3 vintage Philips EL6033/10 omni cartoid mics which I bought for £2 and sold for £100
I nearly sold my vintage touring bike, a Dawes Galaxy-1977, but ended up refurbishing it instead.

Does the wrong planet software count as a vintage item?
