The BBCode "img" tag implementation is a bear of little brain and works only when wrapping a link ending with an image file - and even then it occasionally carps about it.
There are various techniques of arriving at that happy state, in order to provide the fix I did, and as I have some street cred (or WP cred, since I rarely go out) to protect - let's just invoke ol' Arfur with: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." 8)

Ah, so it is alleged and sometimes I'll not deny the possibility.

Ok more interesting facts about the Royal Liver Building, an iconic feature in the skyline of my city.

Image

The clocks were originally named the George clocks, due to them starting at the precise time that King George V was crowned on 22 June 1911.

The Liver birds on it were designed by Carl Bernard Bartels who was imprisoned in an internment camp around the time of WW1.
Theres a few local legends about the birds, one being the bird looking over the Mersey is female and the bird looking over the city is male.

The building is on the site of George's Dock, a dock famous for the slave trade a few slaves were sold in that dock.
The Royal Liver was Europe's tallest building for over 20 years after its construction & was the tallest building in the UK for 50 years. It was the first building in the world to be built using reinforced concrete, & has architectural references to the Baroque and Byzantine styles. The Royal Liver and two other buildings (Oriel Chambers and 16 Cook Street) in city centre inspired the designs of American skyscrapers.

Burundi had one of the lowest minimum wages in the world at 160 Burundian francs per day. Based on a 5 day week for 52 weeks of the year that would give you 41,600. According to the exchange rate, that is less than £20 a year. 8O

Spring Temple Buddha
Image

Located in Lushan County, Henan, China. The Spring Temple Buddha is the tallest statue in the world, standing at 128m (420 ft). When taking into account the 25m (82 ft) pedestal it is placed on, the monument has a total height of 153m (502 ft)

Its become even taller over recent years due to reshaping of the hill it stands on to form two further pedestals.

If anyone's interested

2.Chemistry traces its roots back to the ancient study of alchemy. Chemistry and alchemy are separate now, though alchemy still is practiced today.

Dear Fudo, Did you know what the word 'golf' means? It is actually an acronym for a sign at St. Andrews:

Gentlemen
Only,
Ladies
Forbidden

!

Sylkat :?

That's kinda nasty. In a way you'd think by now they'd have changed it, but at the same time, it would seem petty to do it now, it's too late and everyone would still call it golf, women included.

Interesting though.
