The managing ladies here are nice to me, but I think some of them still think I'm special needs or something because they will talk to my mom about me in front of me, like I am incapable of understanding what's going on. I always respond to their questions, and then they seem caught off guard for a second and then start talking to me. :')
Maybe because I always have our dog with me they think he's my service dog or something, and just assume I am incapable of walking around by myself? I have no idea.
I'm not sure the exact kinda place you guys are staying at but if it's a place that is used to dealing with people who have various mental disorders or disabilities, I would guess that it may be a bad habit, especially since you are only 19. Teenagers & young adults are kinda excepted to be idiots these days.
We're staying in a DV shelter for awhile because of some things that have happened recently, but I wouldn't be surprised if they've dealt with women/men who have special needs children, especially since those kids are often the target of abuse. I don't really get why they keep acting like I am intellectually disabled because I have autism though, especially after I've talked to them and my mom explained that I am not mentally disabled. I wasn't frustrated before and now I'm becoming slightly frustrated.
