That's it. And I wonder which guy lostonearth35 is talking about. What's the name of that serial killer? Is he well known?

i don't think japan is really well-known for its amount of serial killers...but could she be referring to Tomohiro Katō of the akibahara massacre in 2008? he brooded about being worthless, lower than trash, wanting to have a GF a-la- elliot rodger, self pitying etc. although i don't think he was a hikikomori because he at least got a gig at an auto repair shop.

ooh, i remember that, as if in high school suddenly you are thrust into this prestigious, snobbish institution where everyone is all old and wise... :jester: it wasn't really like that for me, at least among my fellow freshman class. though it's true you do encounter more experienced people since the age range is greater (and higher, for you) but they are (we're) not completely mature by any means. and the workload my freshman year was pretty much the same as in 8th grade.

oh, what made me unhappy, well i have this essay due in a few days, i have a fukcton left to go and i don't even have my drafts with me!! !! ! everyone else printed out their drafts and turned them in, i turned in my only paper copy, pendejo mendigo

Have you tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds? It works on most laptops, just like it does with desktops.

Never even tried it on my laptop. On my old desktop I got in the habit of pulling the power cord from the wall. Doing that, or pulling the battery off the laptop, is quicker, and it gives me the satisfaction of shutting it down my way rather than its way. :)

Traditional computers are on their way out, at least for me, if not for the rest of the world. Buying an iPad was a minor revelation for me, and I only use the laptop when there's something I can't do on the tablet or I have lots of things to do that are easier with a keyboard and mouse.

Really? I'm younger than you, and I'm stubborn enough to keep using a desktop for most of my day-to-day computing. :P Phones are convenient for communication, but there's no way one could replace a proper PC for me.

Anyway, by holding down the power button, you're still forcefully shutting it down. I believe it's a fairly low-level thing that works independently of the OS.

Knowing that my nephew is sick with the stomach virus. I'm scared that I may catch it and miss an important marriage seminar this Saturday.

I saw a dead kitty on the road when I went for a drive after dancing tonight. It could have been wee wee head's identical tabby twin . I hope it was only a feral street cat and not someone's pet. I often see cats dart across the road in that area at night. I think they live in the scrub on the headlands.
