That beards went out in the 80's seriously, I'd like to temporary knock a certain person and chop off that horrendous hair..

I've learned about our 2007-2011 external politics.

The ant-mimic spider (which does exactly as its name suggests, so it can eat ants without getting attacked by the rest of the colony) is a type of jumping spider.

Picture, hidden behind a link so those who don't like spiders/ants don't have to see it. It waves its front legs around to look like antennae while it's mimicking.

I learned how very far off my idea of what most people would find creepy, or downright horrifying, is. I've become far too inured to things.

Blood really can spurt straight out of a wound. That was a surprise 8O

that means an artery has been cut. if steady pressure and ice don't stop the bleeding in a few minutes, it's ER time.

It was a tiny wound, it stopped in a few seconds. I'm fine :)

Yep, I know any wound that doesn't stop bleeding on its own after a few minutes of compression, whether it spurted like that or not, means a trip to the ER. If I'd still been bleeding, I would've either been trying to get it to stop or on the way to the ER, not posting about it on WP :)

Queen Elizabeth I is considered to be the "cleanest" person in Europe during the 16th century because she bathed once a month. And even then most European people thought that was too much and unhealthy.

Ablutophobia, which is the fear of washing and bathing, is more common in females than in males. With the stereotype that little boys hate baths and adult males think it's not masculine, you'd think it was the other way around. :)

If your pet tarantula flips over on its back, don't worry because it's not dying, it's getting ready to molt. Don't bother it, poke it, or spray it with water to make sure it's alive, because molting is an exhausting process and stressing out your spider could end up really killing it. :skull:

I learned several things about the 1989 World Series:

1. The timing of the game kept the death toll lower than it could have been, in wake of the earthquake.

2. Jose Canseco was falsely accused of male chauvinism when his wife was seen filling up at a gas station. His wife insisted on filling up to keep people from seeing him in uniform and causing a stir.

3. At the time, October 28 (the day of Game 4) was the latest game ever played in a season. The record is now November 4, set in 2001.

4. An earthquake is apparently the only thing that can shut Tim McCarver up.

5. Out of respect for the earthquake victims, the A’s did not celebrate their World Series victory with champagne.

6. This was the last World Series played at Candlestick Park (all future Giants home WS appearances would be played at AT&T Stadium), and the next to last played at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (the A’s would make their last WS appearance to date the following year)
