Except technically relaxants meds brought over the counter one point or another for reasons nothing to do with getting more relaxed.

In the dentist?
I always get a local; mostly injections and at some point, a topical.

Or none at all.

Never had I ever feared the dentist.
Well, never had I ever feared the injection.

So the polite thing to do if you post straight after someone and it's at the end of the page would be to carry the last post over so it can be viewed

I always used to think people did it maliciously so the last post won't be read but that's obviously my paranoia because I can't see that anyone here would play tricks like that

Would they

Eh.

Most people in many discussions would just read the first pages or two.
Or follow whoever they're quoting or implicitly having convo with.

In threads like this with an open ended continuity, however...

I cannot say the intention of those who do whichever so.
Only the poster of whatever only knew or assume. And whoever the viewer can only guess and assume as much.

But I've been there at one point, in paranoia and of anxiety; thinking that a random remark or sets of words may meant me or for me, IRL or online.

Turns out it was my head during my worst years. Now I see the past as some sort of annoyance than embarrassment or shame or continued worry.

Just another aspect of the mind, being egocentric due to whatever mental health related crap.
Thankfully I actually know how to separate my ego from my head's distorted crap.

And to do so, typically most people just go for mindfulness and self compassion.
Mine worked out through sheer amount of angry pride.

Same. The idea of it gives me the willies. 8O

A few months ago I was up for surgery to fix an umbilical hernia (caused by all the extreme, exhibition-quality coughing when I caught Covid) but it took so long to sort out the "when" I'd talked myself out of it.
It's only a minor little thing and not medically significant, I was told, so... meh.

You should avoid it at all costs, it is not a pleasant experience.

Furthermore, especially in older people, apparently there can be unwanted, long term effects on the brain in some people who receive general anaesthetic/surgery.

Don't think I can agree with this.
I've been under general anaesthesia many times and never had an unpleasant experience (apart from post surgical pain)
In fact, early in the century I decided halothane anaesthesia provided a better buzz than cocaine !

(In retrospect...propofol stings when it hits your veins if they don't put enough local in first and I don't much appreciate the retrograde amnesia caused by sevoflurane)
I'm due under the knife next week and requested to try xenon anaesthesia, but apparently it's very difficult to get hold of.

As to carrying the previous pages last post to the next page... I haven't yet worked out when it decides to start a fresh one.

Yes, my experiences with being anaesthetised have been OK. Last October they put me under a couple of times and I didn't have any trouble from it. In fact people told me I'd been a better person when I'd come round from the second one. The one I had in 1964 was bad though. Didn't hurt my brain, just made me feel like crap physically.

I saw a book once where they carried over the diagrams if the text on the new page was still relevent to it. Saved me a lot of flipping pages about. Great for people with lazy short-term memories like mine. Talk about out of sight out of mind. But the idea never caught on.

Yeah I can sort of see why it wouldn't but I kinda like the idea but I won't be doing it again

I can see why they won't do it on WP. There's a number to remember, then you have to count every time, and usually the number of posts will be less. Nobody bothers to do that kind of thing. And I gather the forum's software is set in stone, so nobody's going to make it automatic or even number the posts.

But they charge good money for books so I don't see why they can't be a bit more reader-friendly.

I'm ashamed to say I've never read the Book Of Palms. They don't grow very well north of the Watford Gap.
