The Christmas song "2000 Miles" by the Pretenders really reminds me of my brother's first Christmas in 1987 when my mum and dad lived in an apartment and it was all frosty outside on Christmas morning.
And the crazy thing about that is I wasn't even born until 1990. But the song seems to really bring this memory to me like I was really there to remember it.

Strange.

What you're describing sounds like anemoia, or "nostalga for a time you have never known" it is often Associated with a longing for a past era that you did not personally experience. Media, news, stories or other historical accounts can often trigger them.

I have very strong nostalgia for the Pete Quaife era of The Kinks, though Mick Avory is my favourite.

What i don't get is that your memory of that time is very detailed, I don't suppose family members have told you about that event? It's possible your brain has confused some retelling as your own memory.

The workmen didn't turn up today and made an excuse for their absence.

I want it all to be over with.
