He has a big fan-base amongst non-white working class people too. A lot of women like him in particular and goes to his shows, yet he makes some extremely crude sexual jokes - half of his jokes are about women being fat and having smelly genitalia.

I really enjoy watching Little Britain.

It's funny - a lot of people in Britain disliked it when it was on because it was seen as being very crude, and in some cases picking on people without the means to defend themselves.

Yeah, I heard about the controversy when I looked up the show on Wikipedia. Little Britain is actually pretty tame compared to the things that pass for comedy here in the US. Just look at South Park and Drawn Together.

Yeah, but South Park actually has some intelligent analysis to make and that therefore makes the content justifiable. Little Britain wasn't really like that - the first series might have been reasonably amusing from time to time but it went very steeply downhill from there.

I feel sorry when anyone dies no matter who they were. I feel more sorry though if I knew who they were.

You have a point. Perhaps Family Guy would have been a better comparison. I'm still on the first series of Little Britain. I like it a lot, but if you say it starts going downhill, I may want to quit while I'm ahead. I know I'm probably going to wind up doing that with Red Dwarf, since I heard that the quality of the episodes declines after the Grant & Naylor writing team split up around series 6.

The problem is that in later series they rely on tired old jokes that rely on disabled people getting out of chairs, old ladies urinating in supermarkets, and the constant references to homosexuality. It becomes juvenile.

If you like Series 1, you may like to listen to the BBC Radio 4 series that preceded it - which I am told is even better than Series 1.

I have selachophobia. I won't go out past my knees in the ocean because I am convinced that I will be part of that infinitesimally small statistic of people who get eaten by sharks . . . and I live in Florida.

I love my state and hate it that people call it the rainy state.
