the point I was trying to make, was that I suspect that your brain is wired to ignore accent differences in favor of enhanced error correction ability.

New Zealand–Australian hybrid, having been born in NZ and having lived most of my life in Australia. There are certain words that I tend to say in each accent: e.g., I usually say "six" like a NZer but "seven" like an Aussie. People in each country seem to think I sound like the other, and I can do both accents pretty well. But overall I'd say my accent is more NZ (Māori, specifically).

Also, I used to watch so much TV as a kid that sometimes I'd drift into generic English or American accents. Heck, I still do it on occasion without even realising it.

It's more like Appalachia,not the drawl like the Deep South.You can hear the Scotch -Irish influence,it's heavy on the r's.Orange is pronounced R-ange.

None. But i can combine different languages with local Swedish accents, like Chinese with a southern Swedish (Skånska) accent, some people find that hilarious.
