Been into engines since I was about 10, and got my hands on a rusted old lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton 3.5hp 4 stroke engine. The thing was siezed from being out of use so long, but I managed to get it running by completely stripping it down and reassembling it.

The funny thing is, while I'm into shows like Monster Garage (which got me into welding) and Top Gear, I'm a total hippy, and on a strict budget, so I've got to think a bit different. I decided this year I'm going to get some wheels and some more independance, so I'm currently saving, and hopefully, by the end of the year, I should be able to afford one of these:

A Honda Ruckus/Zoomer (US+Japanese/European versions). It's got a 50cc, water cooled 4 stroke, with OHC. The Ruckus has a carb, but the Zoomer has programmed fuel injection.

With a little work, and probably twice as much money as the bike itself is going to cost (not even including the shipping on the parts), I hope to get it, maybe, looking something like this (I'm still not decided on exactly what style I want to go for), and to the magical 50mph mark:

The Countach was always my favorite supercar as a kid, although today if I could get a performance car, being proud to be a nerd, I'd probably go for something like this:

Caterham R500. 0-60 in 2.88s. (The YouTube)

Caterhams are cool!
That Zoomer thing is quite groovy, too. 8)

See, I'm a man of simple tastes. I like dynamite, and gunpowder...and gasoline! Do you know what all of these things have in common? They're cheap!

I think they got released about the same time the Need for Speed games were out, and The Fast and the Furious was released. The thing is, in Tokyo, you're not allowed to own a car, unless you also own a space to park it in (which can cost more than a house in Tokyo), so there isn't much point trying to sell people cars to modify. Honda had the brillant idea to make a scooter that could be modded to f*** (including fitting a cheap and readily available 150cc GY6 engine), and now there's a huge modding scene for Zoomers.

There's some great examples of what's possible in the gallery of the best known modding shop in Japan or on the Ruckus/Zoomer groups Flickr slideshow.

The brown widow...

I once had a whole nest of these on a stroller. Scared the crap out of me.

Many reasons, really. They're beautiful. They freak people out. I'm Masochistic. They're beautiful.

I practically encourage spiders to colonise my flat, by letting them make webs, and by tempting food in by leaving windows open and lights on. I even brought some with me when I moved out of my mum and dad's place :)

My husband's favorite animal is the Bald Eagle. We have a beautiful print of two taking off from a nest on our living room wall.
