I talk about it on this thread:

I seemed to have really bad acid reflux today, but I didn't experience it so much as heartburn. I'm just now starting to recognize the symptoms better. When I lie down, I get this really bad chest tightness with a sense of world-weariness, like I feel ancient. Always a tiredness in the chest, my heart beating. I often have backwash, where it seems like my stomach acid comes up my throat into the back of my mouth. I've had a somewhat productive cough today.

I'm on only my 2nd day of Prilosec. We shall see how it goes.

I just took my 4th pill of Prilosec. I'm still having that familiar pain in my upper back that I now recognize as meaning acid reflux. I've also had constant congestion in my throat, even though I've been taking Mucinex and drinking water, and have been clearing my throat. I've read that these symptoms could all be related to laryngopharyngeal reflux ("silent reflux").

I'm still having the occasional cough, but I'm making some inroads on my acid reflux. I realize that during the times where I feel fatigued and like I can't do anything, it might be the acid reflux that's causing it.

strategic use of calcium absorbers such as calcium carbonate, and acid blockers such as ranitadine will help you.

auntblabby,

Thanks.

Oh boy. The worst cold blast my area has seen in decades is forecast to start early tomorrow afternoon. The temperate will be about 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius to start) at noon, according to the forecast, but in a 1- to 2-hour period will drop more than 20 degrees Fahrenheit (more than 10 degrees Celsius). By early the next morning, the temperature is forecast to be below 10 degrees Fahrenheit (well below -10 degrees Celsius) with wind chills well below 0 (down to almost -25 degrees Celsius!).

Let's see if my treatments hold up! :?

I would ask my doctor for one of those tb masks, they are thick and will cause a lot of warmth to accumulate in the mask which will take the edge off of the cold.

AuntBlabby,

Thanks.

My cough has come back a bit more so I'm off to see the allergist tomorrow morning.

Thanks, y'all. :D

Anyway, I went back to the allergist and he got me something stronger than the Prilosec. I've been still having to take the Pepto-Bismol, though.

I've been having some nasal irritation lately, with sneezing, sneezing up white and black mucus. As well, the boogers that come out of my nose are light yellow. My allergist recommended that I get nasal saline with some H2O2 in it, but I'm not so sure about that. It looks controversial.

My inhaler runs out tonight, and that will end my use of it. We shall see how things go after stopping it. :?

Ugh. My stomach acid is still really bad.

On the other hand, I took my last puff of my inhaler (Dulera) Thursday night, and I still have no problems.

have you thought about any possible role diet might have in your stomach acid production?

Oh, definitely. I've been having to work on that. :( I like tangy, spicy food too much.

Nevertheless, I think it was the coughing fits I had last month that triggered the acid reflux, which I hear can happen.
