Couldn't find a charcter who was tall, skinny, white and had messy hair
so settled for one of my favourite movie characters, the joker.

Historia Reiss' facial expression reflects how I've felt lately.

My current avatar has a picture of my plushie of Blu from Rio in it. I like Blu because from having watched the movie, he strikes me as having AS, himself. I mean, he has all kinds of unusual talents, like skateboarding, reading, doing an elaborate handshake, dancing, imitating sounds, unlatching cages, and climbing, yet he's unable to fly (at first), dreads any kind of change in his lifestyle/routine, prefers the familiarity of his cage to the unknowns of the open world, doesn't instinctively know how to go about courting a female macaw (Jewel), and gets confused by her nonverbal social cues. Despite that, however, he's genuinely very sweet and selfless. In fact, that's an Autism Awareness bracelet Blu is wearing in the photo. :D

I thought this would make a good avatar for several reasons:

-It's one of the best book covers I have ever seen. I can't take my eyes off it.

-It plays with the symbolism in Blake's, Tiger Tiger, which deals with the problem of evil in christianity. Within the poem, the tiger represents the duality within creation of good and evil; being both an object of destruction, and an object of beauty (good). The cover secularises the symbolism of the poem by depicting the tiger as coming out of the human mind. As such, it places the origin, and responsibility for good and evil within man, and symbolises our capacity for greatness and self determination, but also cruelty.

-I admire the novel's protagonist Gully Foyle, who is depicted on the cover.

-Unconnected with the source material, the picture also operates as a good metaphor for ASD.

At the moment, mine is currently just Dory wearing a button I had custom-made that alerts people to the fact that she's not just a toy or a security blanket, she's my main coping item and companion.

No particular meaning. I came to choose Krabo to be my username (because my sign is the Crab), so a cute kitty pic for an avatar just doesn't quite fit.

It's an Edward Hopper picture - House At Dusk. Where I picked my username from, too. I keep meaning to change it, but can never be bothered to choose another one and resize it etc.

I don't tend to find much of interest in static visual art, but find Hopper's work very involving and intriguiing and enjoyable. He's one of my recurring obsessions. I love his windows and light and loneliness.

It's from the cartoon on Nickelodeon, Rabbids Invasion.
