Ah, one note about using silicon-based life is that realistically, temperatures hot enough to melt glass (around 2000K), because silicon dioxide is a fluid at very different temperatures (ablative prep.) carbon dioxide. (Imagine what would happen if something breathed solid, insoluble crystals. )

Of course, maybe the life-form uses silicon sulfide, in which case the sublimation point is roughly 1400K (value to be checked later).

Or the creature could be sulfur-based and have the sulfur melt at around 400K (also to be checked later).

Or the creature could always invoke magic for respiratory processes, but applying magic is a bit like applying that easily melted glue to a smooth surface to cause something to stick in that it should be done sparingly.


Maybe I should roll up a few creatures without a specific goal (except to fit the creature to Caelum) for ideas.

Now comes the worst time:

Argh! That is always the most annoying part. I can draw things in under half an hour, but it always takes me days to line it digitally.

The nice thing is that GURPS sourcebooks tend to be digital editions these days (and have surprisingly small erratae).

I only came back here because I had to change my password.

Does that make me sound mean? I should be missing you all, but you know how it is. Most of the time one exists very well without any fellow human beings.

My latest "special interest" is password algorithms* and I became very worried once I realised the one I'm using wasn't encrypted,* so I'm going back to all the websites I've used and encrypting it. Once I got here I found some PMs and then got tempted to pop back in and see if this thread was still in existence.

I see actual people once a week and by the end of the day it's becoming too much and I just want to get away from it, back to the peace of solitude.
Being here on WP is interesting, but I can walk away from it at any time and no-one looks up and asks where I'm going.

I tend to rely on my own bizarre words for passwords so I can remember then easily.
Those that are most likely more secure tend to slip out of my head rather too easily.
