when the dixie chicks insulted the president back in 2000 something, and people everyone was smashing their dixie chicks cds, i was probably one of the only people who was still listening to my copy of "fly". to me it didn't matter what they did or would do i would not trash their art because of a simple mistake on their part.
smashing the disk wouldn't have solved anything, just make me angry at myself because i could not listen to "goodbye earl" and "cowboy take me away".
i also found it stupid as hell when they had to publicly apoligize 6+ times on the news channels, i kept thinking [isn't once enough, they didn't cause 9\11 for god sake]. i love my country but i was not going to disrespect someones art like everyone else was.
Good for You! I don´t know who dixies are and who was the president they offended, I recall only G.W.B. before this one and he was uninsultable.
dixie chicks are a country band, they probably made the remark at a concert and people say and do dumb stuff at concerts, it was george bush that they insulted, but like i said they may have said it during a concert, my bro goes to concerts all the time and they get pretty wild, like godsmack telling people to burn cds and give the copies to their friends during a concert, basicly dumb things happen at concerts and i doubt they really meant it.
but what people did to their work wasn't right at all, and it didn't solve anything. i didn't think it was very logical.
and they did apologize so it should have been dropped, but they had to apologize over and over, i liked bush as a president, well more then this one we have now, but i doubt he wanted to put the chicks through that, bush was not one to hold grudges like that.
