Okay I'm back now. In amygdala, I found the word amy in it and associated it with a girl since it is responsible for developing and processing emotions. I hope this doesn't sound bad in any way, it's just the way I found it easy to memorize in one night. Using the whole word the girl's name would be Amy G. Dala.

I over-thought again.

No, I don't think I'm going to get it anytime soon.
I got my copy of Portal from a friend's hard drive. Unfortunately, he doesn't have Portal 2, and I'm not allowed to buy games.

I have trouble thinking with names. I prefer objects.

I also have some trouble thinking with Portals, but that's a different story.

I understand, I just thought of that off the top of my head to memorize it quickly. I think this is the only time I've ever used a proper noun to associate a word with something. When I wanted to memorize the hippocampus, I saw the word camp in it and thought of it as a memory camp. It sounds like a childish way of doing it but it works.

See, the thing is... I've read so many books when I was younger that most of my knowledge comes up as latent learning. So I have trouble memorizing entirely new stuff in general.

Actually, it seems that the more childish and odd something is, the more likely it is to be remembered. A series of systematic, predictable tags to specific ideas would be more difficult to remember than a memorable concept with relatively easy association.

Of course, the way I memorized the meaning of the word "pecuniary" is by seeing a picture of a man milking a cow with money coming out instead of milk. The caption said "a pecuniary peculiar dairy". Oh, SAT prep...

That's mostly because it stands out to the individual studying, so I agree with you 100% kevinjh. As for memorizing new stuff, in school a lot of it does come up when the time comes but it's mostly because it feels like the answer is within the question to me or later in the test if I familiarize myself first the content of course. I've had some experience with latent learning though, it's just with my interest in psychology I'm pretty dedicated to the material.
