thinking it might just make the most sense, with my learning style, to learn to read japanese(even though, learning like 2000 kanji, in addition to kana, seems a tall-ish order), and then increase my vocabulary and understanding of grammar by way of example in interpreting japanese reading material. it seems much more rewarding to be able to read what can already be read at the moment(without just matching the characters by sight), and then look up new words online without having to guess how they are spelled... so to be able to read more proficiently, would probably make a better vehicle to accelerate the rate at which intrigue propels my mind to learn.
