I cannot make online purchases, and the libraries are slowly shrinking. The local connection to the L-Space is dying. :wall:

Dear Kevinjh, The next time your mother heads for the local shopping mall, command that she not return without a hardback copy of aforementioned novel.
Use your 'stern' voice!

Dear Albirea, I think that looks like JUST the sort of thing that fascinates me!
Ever hear of 'Uncle John's bathroom Reader'?

Dear zzmondo, Good evening! Did you see kevinjh's portable Stargate? Were you aware that Albirea's alternate identity is a small yellow bird?

On top of the important life lesson I learned today Skylat, what you mentioned just now is very interesting as well. The cone was also invoked? Why was that?

The thread's theme was followed to neither letter nor spirit in no less than one instance.

Dear zzmondo, What important life-lesson?
Very good point that Kevinjh brought up: Spirit Letters. During the heyday of the Spiritualism movement during the middle to late 1800s, 'Spirit-Writing' was very popular during seances.
The medium would present a letter from a deceased loved one to someone at the table, having written it under spirit control.
Anyone ever been to a seance?

Dear Kevinjh, Arthur Conan Doyle was also a believer in Spiritualism; he tried for years to contact his late mother.
