The human brain contains roughly 100 giganeurons. The number of connections between those nodes is estimated to be a petasynapse. Provided that each synapse can distinguish between 256 levels of signal strength and each node connects to roughly 10 kilonodes, the space available would approximate a petabyte. Of the synapses, it is estimated that only a tenth fire at any given time (partly due to the hazardous effects of having all synapses firing at once), providing 100 active terasynapses for the maintenance of basic living. GLaDOS is probably more efficient than the average human due to a lack of the requirement for many involuntary processes, so assume that only 0.1% of the synapses need to fire at any given time. In this case, at any given time, in the tiny amount of matter in the potato, there are approximately a trillion impulses being sent.

What happens to the heat produced and how does the potato not run out of energy? 8O

[Gah! Overthinking again!]

Valve has yet to come up with an explanation for that.

[SFX: Big NO]
I wonder how deriving the mass of a personality core should be done.

The only way to see inside a core is to use noclip. It's actually pretty empty for all its size.

Another surprise: a cursory search shows that no one before has attempted to create a GURPS Portal. 8O

Congratulations. You, [subject name here], have set a precedent among all test subjects. Well done.

On a similar note (an octave LOWER  ), D&D already has a portal device at the following:

This is a link to the D&D Portal Device adaptation.

Awww. :(
But at least you can still stat GLaDOS and the Personality Cores!

[side comment: I now have a temporary tattoo of a green lizard on my arm.]

Yes, and it is more natural to see new GURPS content simply because of the Generic and Universal components. Much of the GLaDOS statting was based on 4E Ultra Tech (which openly uses super-science :P ).

Figuring out the best way to find the mass of a roughly spherical object will make for a nice physics review auto-project.

I'll let you work on that, then. G'night!

[Hopefully I can get my senior internship requirement waived because I had already done a lab internship purely for fun and intellectual purposes last summer, which vastly exceeded the school's requirement of 24 hours. The email has been sent.]
