The original promotional image for the Portal gun has a miniature black hole inside. I think that's pretty implausible too.
But, if the teleport projector works the same way, it should be possible to turn it into an alternate form.

An excerpt from GURPS Ultra-Tech 4E, which the writers of GURPS Ultra-Tech 4E wrote:
A standard teleport projector is a platform large enough
to transport a single person, or two in a tight embrace, or up to 400 lbs. weight. The projector controls are focused on a specific point. Anything standing on the platform is tele-ported to that destination point. If the destination point is occupied by a solid object, the GM may assume the teleport fails, or that the result is some form of disaster. Range is 10,000 miles; using the projector takes 10 sec-onds and a skill roll against Electronics Operation (Matter Transmitters), with a -1 per 1,000 miles of distance. Add +4 if teleporting between two cooperating projectors. Failure means a near miss, critical failure a disaster (perhaps the victim is teleported above or below ground, or off course, or the projector breaks).
A typical projector is $15,000,000, 3,000 lbs., plus an extra $5 million and 1,000 lbs. per platform. It uses exter-nal power. Projectors that can only send, but not retrieve, are possible; these are half weight and cost. LC1.

Bah! I will just have to create something based on a standard Ultra-Tech gun!

That doesn't seem to fit at all! Yes, you're much better off working with something else.

Of course, in real life, there already is a gun that opens portals.

That is to say, it forcibly unlocks portals.

Code:
TL   Weapon         Dmg         Acc   Rng         Weight   RoF   Shots   ST   BulkRcl   Cost   LC
11^   Portal Gun      0         9    425000000   1.5/C   1   2(1)   8   -3   1   ?      2

It probably clears when quoted.

...A little bit.
Addition to my last post: That would be how Wheatley opens Portals.

Did I answer my own question without causing any self-reference?

Did it really?

[Fingers crossed behind back] The Companion Cube will be so difficult to stat. In fact, given a choice between statting the Companion Cube and taking 3 MCAT's after having cough medicine, I think I would rather choose the latter.[/Fingers crossed behind back]
