It generally lists which book is required/recommended on the splash page, syllabus page, or readings page. Of course, if you are only doing them for the assignments, then any physics book with the material will work (but sometimes, they do reference problems in the books).

The textbook is a required purchase.

Apparently, I do need a book.

I don't know yet. There are several courses that look the same but have different numbers.

8.01sc is moderately interactive and requires no textbook, if mechanics is all you require.

8.02x: Physics II: Electricity & Magnetism with an Experimental Focus requires the Young textbook as well, so it may be worth finding.
