I have problems with people on the phone thinking I'm lying about my age, yes.

Yes but I don't think any of us is foolish enough to claim sufficient knowledge of linguistics to tell Americans that the New York accent had its origins in Taiwan! :D

No, it's just that I thought that it's such a childlike voice that you'd often get people laughing at you for having it. There's no need to delete your recordings. :)

Lolz. I can be like that sometimes. I was working on knowlege I had acquired long ago. Seems I either misinterpreted or forgot. I shouldn't be so adamant like that with such claims. And I do in fact have a great amount of knowledge when it comes to linguistics, but my area of interest is centered around Sino-Tibetan languages, the Romance languages, and PIE(Proto Indo-European).

I've never met an aspie that doesn't have gaps in their knowledge of a certain subject. Ever. Aspies will focus on certain aspects of a certain subject and completely ignore others. The narrow interests thing is what's responsible.

No-one knows everything, but if you profess knowledge of anything (as you did with Scouse), it's probably a good idea to provide a reference source so people are not misled. I'm sure you'd be just as annoyed if someone trotted out something about marine biology which you knew to be utter nonsense.
