Todays weather: The High pressure area that has been giving us sunshine over the past few days won't be going anywhere. This will mean that the air will be dry, in fact our southern suburbs dipped into the upper 40's this morning. Places like Taunton and Norwood reached 49 early this morning. As I stated the air is dry, and the temperatures have recoverd nicely, it is currently in the mid 70's in our southern suburbs right now. For our middle suburbs we'll see the temps climb into the low 90's this afternoon, so take it easy out there if you're outside perhaps taking a walk, or out tending to your garden. Our northern and western suburbs will be in the upper 90's today. Along the eastern shore of Lake Quannapowwit, a lake breeze will develop and keep the immediate shoreline in the upper 80's. For Sioux Island and the eastern suburbs the sea breeze will keep the heat down and the beaches crowded.
For Peter City: In Peterboro the high will be close to 100 in the downtown area, low 90's in Forest Park. In The Bronx, the temps will be in the upper 90's. Queens and Brookline will also be in the upper 90's today. Perhaps the coolest spot in Peter City today will be Staten Island, where the sea breeze will keep the highs in the mid 80's!
Taking a look at our five day forecast On Sunday we'll see some homegrown heat, this heat is not coming up from Carolina, or Nova Scotia. High of 91 on Sunday in Peterboro. Monday through Wednesday we'll see highs in the upper 80's and low's in the 60's. There is a possibility of showers on Thursday as we watch Hurricane Earl which is currently 1500 miles east of Sable Island.
Our beach forecast is this: For Salisbury and Blodgett Beaches highs will be 77, the water temperature will be 68. Places like Wingershaek Beach and Magnolia by the sea will also be in the upper 70's to low 80's. Out on Sioux Island: Fire Island water temps in the upper 70's with a high of 83. Mecox Beach will see much of the same conditions. On the south shore Humarock Beach down to Plymouth, you'll have highs in the low 80's. Finally, out on the Cape ripcurrents will be the primary concern on our southern facing beaches as the swells from a large Extratropical Low will be arriving on our shores.
