You know who hates flying? John Madden. It was really inconvenient for him before he retired since he had to travel a lot to get to all the football games. He never commentated the Pro Bowl because he couldn't get to Hawaii.

Just a random update. The same AA plane that I took from Zurich to New York almost crashlanded after an engine fire, only two days after. Luckily it landed safely at a nearby airport.

I like flying, the only thing I don't like is the awful feeling I can get in my ears during/after landing.

This topic reminds me of an episode of "The Simpsons" where Marge has a fear of flying.

I greatly dislike flying for the pressure changes also, but more for the sound. I am very noise-sensitive and usually spend the flight with my fingers in my ears. Looks rather strange.

How big of a plane? Little Cessnas make me sick, but I've never had a problem with commercial jets, or even medium sized planes. The pressure doesn't do anything except pop my ears. Does it do something else to you?

I can grit my teeth for a local flight here (max 5 hours) but anything over that and I get claustrophic.

Flying doesn't really bother me. It's a fairly relaxing way to travel, I prefer it over driving. Sometimes I feel a little uneasy over being so high off the ground though.

I love flying, and I have to confess that I like air line food.

I like bumpy landings, and I like "full power takeoffs" on short runways. The best ones are when the pilot puts on the brakes and opens up the engines to full and then suddenly lets go of the brakes !

The best landing I had was one where as we came in the plane hit some turbulance, the pilot increased his air speed to get better control of the plane. We then had a bumpy landing.

I hate going through security checks, and I hate rushing to catch a connecting flight, I also hate waiting around for hours for a connecting flight.

The actual flying part I'm fine with. It's the airports and terminals I loath.

flying aint as great as the old pullman trains. Usually its about as boring as riding a modern amtrak train.

But sometimes you get lucky- like the time the airliner from miami took a jaunt right over miami harbor.

You could see the huge cruise ships at dock. Then see frieghters and sail boats excursion boats, all plying the open water -all looking like toys in a bath tub. IT was awesome.

You wouldn't have said that if you had flown with Concorde! The best flight in my life - and I love flying!
