Right a video! very smart action. The kitty looks rather healthy to me but I surely notice something is wrong with the back leg. I saw the comments on the video as well that vets is not willing to find payment agreement, what a pity...
Anyway, what you can do is to take a closer look at the leg. You have to be two people to do it. Take a huge towel and wrap around the whole cat except the injured leg. Make sure the other three paws is well wrapped, not able to fight or bring on the claws. The person who is not holding the cat touch the leg softly from its root and all the way out to the claws. By this you can locate (by the reaction of the cat) where exactly he is injured and also confirm if the claws is mangled or not. If I was you I would at least try to find out what it is, if not beeing able to bring the cat to a vet

How is your cat doing now digger1? Is he showing improvement? Do you believe he needs to go to the vet? I saw the video. I am no vet, but since he is able to walk on it (although the limp is apparent), it doesn't appear broken to me. What about infection? I am concerned about his injury. Please continue to keep us informed. If he needs to get to the vet, is there any idea of an estimate of how much it would cost to get him treated?

The paw obviously isn't broken, because he can (or she? it looks like a boy to me) put weight on it well. He looks just like my dog did. It looks like somehow he sprained it. I'm certainly not a vet, but you might want to go ahead with taking him to the vet. Some vets will offer "payment schedules", so you should ask. you might be able to pay in increments. Vets are being more understanding in these trying times.

I might be late in posting this but the kitty might have an absess. My cat would hiss, I couldn't find anything wrong until I took her to a vet. Turns out her claw was growing into her paw!! ! This could've been caused from a cat fight...that is if your cat happens to be an outdoor cat. It's quite common among felines and surprisingly common for them to die of absess affections.

Anyway what a cute kitty, I hope he gets better. It's nice to see a guy who happens to be a cat lover. Most guys I come across talk about how they want to get rid of their cats because of a little injury or because they can't stand them.

though now I'm convinced he's got a torn nail. I'll be making an appointment at the vet nonetheless to be sure. Sucks they're not open on weekends! The closest emergency vet clinic is 45 minutes away.

most of the nail was gone. No wonder he's in pain. I tried applying some of that ointment to make the pain subside a little but he hissed and growled and now I'm just covered in cat fur and ointment.

Ugh... I hate vets. They are so heartless when it comes to money. I know they can't do freebies, but saying that they won't treat an injured animal unless you show them the dough is just wrong. Can you believe I had to PAY to get my rabbits cremated? It's a hard enough time as it is without f*****g vets bills. I am AMAZED that animal welfare charities don't seem to care about this problem. Oh by the way, cute kitty!

Heh, my dad put my favorite cat down when she was only 4 because he couldn't afford medical treatment for it.

I mean, it did have cancer, not a broken leg.

see, cancer I can understand. Leukemia, something inoperable or something where it would break the bank - something well outside reasonable means. But a broken toe or leg? Come on! Work with us! I think some states have ruled pets as family members even!

Sad about the cat, I hope it gets better soon.

Does the PDSA (people's dispensory for sick animals) operate in your country ? If they do then contact them for help they might help you out. The PDSA give free or reduced cost health care to the pets of people who can not afford the full cost.

Okay, nice to get some updates and that Obi Wan was calm enough to allow you to look closer to the problem. So one claw is gone then. I guess we can compare it with one of our nails beeing ripped off fast and too much giving pain as the result. Eventually the pain goes away and the claw grows out again. Well its good its not an open would that easily could get infected

A torn nail is almost like an amputation, but most vets will just look at it and charge you their emergency
fee, if you can take a closer look at the foot then do that, a lost nail is hardly worth a visit to the vet.
If its a torn nail clean it off with some sterilize water then use some antibiotic ointment.
Looking at the video your kitty has a sore paw, if it was broken he would not be walking that good.

digger1: So sorry about your kitty. I just do not know, but could you somehow arrange a vet appt - even by deferring payment via arrangement? I would be concerned about infection. There must a vet clinic in your area that could accommodate your cat, given circumstances. In certain rural areas (like in Alaska) vets will give medical advice, such as via phone - maybe that's an idea?

I hope you kitty feels better soon, that's a tough situation.

he's doing much better now. Just a very slight limp if anything.

Doc said that if he's able to put any weight on it, it's probably not broken.
